But which one?

On a side note the previous sounded like a plane coming into land. So a quieter one would be good

subscribed - with the hard water 'round here- we've never had quiet kettle that's stayed quiet - even the "Quiet"T.M. ones 🙂

Just bought one these - best kettle I've owned

http://www.tesco.com/direct/russell-hobbs-18579-17l-jug-kettle-stylis-red/738-7807.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=738-7807

Was priced at £22.50 but when I got to the till I was only charged £16.50 - they've probably corrected this but still good value.

Ive finally found a kettle I like. It's only taken 30+ yrs.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HD4644-Energy-Efficient-Kettle/dp/B001EHF3OG

Not noisy, quick boil, happy to boil only a cupful.
Good build quality.
Not expensive designer bolleaux.

Was watching a documentary thing with Mark Cavendish and he had a pretty smart looking kettle with a temperature readout on it.

Could be good for brewing coffee without burning it.

Never have found out what model of kettle it was though.

Get something like this

Stovetops are pretty silent until you hear the shrill whistle of the boiling water, which is somewhat satisfying anyway.

I have the steel version of the plastic Philips one above. Works fine but is quite heavy.

Yeah I just plonked the first stovetop one I could find up there, not suggesting that model. Ours is nothing like that.
