I suspect they dont really have much in the way of distinction between road and pavement in many parts of Nigeria. I could be wrong.

Some parts of Africa the danger comes from the lions in the scrub alongside the highway. The man-eaters have discovered humans on two feet or wheels taste good and roads have a buffet! What body armour for lion attack?
