Hmmm, not that impressed. I'm sure I will stop noticing the colour change after a while but I don't like the new front page.
If you are going to [s]copy[/s] take inspiration from the BBC site at least have scrolling for the articles?
Edit double post Captain's disease...
Oh, hang on - it makes the adverts stand out more.
Exactly my thought too 😕 /cynic
Oh, hang on - it makes the adverts stand out more.
That was my first impression.
😉
[whispers]
There's adverts?
[/whispers]
^^^This...
not nearly as dramatic and traumatic as separating the forum to 'chat' and 'bike' forii!!
Perhaps it reduces bandwidth costs if it's only in monochrome?
Too colourful!
Black and White, nice, Retrotrackworld.

Home page fits in with the style of the new mag.
Which is a nice "thing".
Nina is purrrrdy and King of the Mountains.
meh, if the middleclasswhineycockbags stopped littering their pointless postings with emoticons.... it could even be worksafe.
😀
😳
serif fonts? wtf?
Oh, and agree with the 'all a bit John Major spitting image sketch' as posted up there ^^^
Not a fan, looks like it's a bit broken, I refreshed a few times expecting colour to appear!
Do not like.
Nice and stealthy for work use, not that bothered though as its only an internet forum.
Can't remember the old version now.
The coloured photos and ads do tend to grab the eye more.
its only an internet forum
WHAT?! Crazy man speaks.
I was just thinking that we should kill him DeBz and have done with it.
Yeh I know I don't think I treat it with the seriousness it deserves sometimes.
Repeat the forum psalm.
"This is not just a forum, this is real life.
Criticising this place, is akin to you ****ing my wife"
Just a note but it'd be great if there was an option to remove the facebook plugin - it's blocked at a lot of companies so using the forum will be constantly triggering 'attempt to access blocked content' flags...
erm
Check on my phone, it makes the txt stand out more, I like that.
Not so sure about the grey boarders and grey backgrounds to the forum links and search box, that just look unfinished (amateurish). Also the txt size on my comuter is just a bit big and look funny, yes I know I can change it but then it's too small or the spacing goes daft.
No doubt our feedback will all be ignored & we'll just get used to it, like every other forum change on here.
to remove the facebook plugin
There's a facebook plugin?
I now need to wear my specs to view the forum
I guess the contrast is not as good as before?? - certainly on the black on grey boxes
Well least things are not black and white like they used to be.
errrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
Just a note but it'd be great if there was an option to remove the facebook plugin
There's certainly an extension for Chrome and FF that will do that for you
I might have to turn my ads back on again in a quest for some colour, it's all a bit Wizard of Oz pre the twister
Couple of bugs
1) "Advanced Search" mouseovers to white (and vanishes)
2) On the forum activity page, when you have "23 hours ago" for example, it runs onto two lines. Not a catastrophe, but it's harder to scan than previously. Image below:

[/img]
Couple of preferences:
a) I find the mousovers on the top menu a bit slow and unresponsive. A little at odds with the minimal layout.
b) The search box is hard to spot as it's dark on white and not very textfield-y
Otherwise, I get it - newspaper/minimal/crisp. Maybe a little at the expense of legibility and comfort.
There's certainly an extension for Chrome and FF that will do that for you
Any decent company IT system will prevent you installing a non-standard browser (or any other software) which for most companies means use of IE only...
I like it
it's just less green which means it fits nicely into Outlook
which for most companies means use of IE only
oh - the inhumanity. Especially if someone's locked to IE6 - shudders.
Actually, IE6 might increase workforce productivity - sensible.
I've already complained about performance issues with the Facebook widget. The problem is that it is dynamically generated, showing your friends, so the images aren't cached.
I thought my PC had booted up in safe mode. I did a virus scan and a Malwarebytes scan and a registry cleanup and a reboot.
But I love change and progress.
Another couple of 'kind of bugs'
1) Some green remains (perhaps deliberately) on the search results page. (and some blue, but that looks nice and 'default')
2) There's no mouseover effect the main navigation submenu (i.e. Premier menu).
Hi guys, the new design is just an interim holding page before we fully implement the new Singletrackworld, which will be mostly Flash based and will look something like this.
It's a (metric) shedload faster on my iPhone 4 now, so despite the lack of colour and the ridiculous (even for 10 years ago) TNR font, I'm happy!
Incidentally, the forum as it was until yesterday was the only website I ever go on that caused my iPhone grief, used to slow it right down almost to a halt at times. This is a million times better!
will be mostly Flash based and will look something like this.
I now have epilepsy
thanks
which will be mostly Flash based
You sir, have just lost a [s]troll[/s] customer.
The problem is that it is dynamically generated, showing your friends, so the images aren't cached.
I don't have Facebook but it still seems to generate a load of lag when I use STW with my tablet
damn I was hoping more for a lingscars look to the place 🙁
which will be mostly Flash based and will look something like this.
Needs moar flash
The forum seems to be full of the same old bollox? Where is the bright new content?
mostly Flash based
Marvellous.
I like the grey, makes it look less like I'm not working.

Can I tender for that job please?
I have experience in Macromedia Director and can create the whole STW experience in Shockwave. I can deliver the whole project on cd-rom for easy distribution to your viewers. I can even include a 'space invaders' pre-loader for higher retention.
Should you require the Singletrack logo to be less 'static', I can look at that too. Burning, spinning, or perhaps just a subtle glint. I'm your man!
burning, spinning and a subtle glint please.

With an animated alsation gif?
maybe just some spokey-dokeys and a rainbow.
don't want to go ott 😉
Yearns for the good ol' days
I hope John Atkins Cycles are still paying for that ad!
burning, spinning and a subtle glint please.
Ooooh Yessss!
You see - STW towers have completely missed their target market.
I'm going to start a competitive forum.
It will be full of smilies, easy to insert lolcatz pictures for every occasion, a facepalm gallery and more.
The links down the side will be to 'classic threads' featuring spilt latex, shitting dogs, brandished bombmers, etc.
It won't have a social media plugin, because it will be the only online social spot you'll need!
I'm working on the logo now - once that's been agreed by the board, the rest can be knocked together using an online template. I'm thinking something along these lines.
Fresh and funky forum template
I'm colour blind, I can't see grey, what are you lot talking about?
I can't see grey
That you, TJ?
Well the adverts stand out more 🙄
wwaswas
That you, TJ?
If I could see what you have written, I think I would now be offended!
(And my quote thing doesn't work anymore, I think)
🙄

Really?!?! I'd have loved to be in on that meeting:
"Hey the number of people browsing on iOS devices is through the roof, lets redesign the site using flash..."
I'm glad the Mag relaunch was a little better thought out.

Well I am confused. I want to believe this is a subtle switcheroo, but these days you just don't know do you?
That fundamental nutter flashy site is fantastic.
Phew. I'd hoped so.
Serves me for only reading the last few posts on txt based browser...
Meanwhile, at one of Evangel Cathedral sermons....
What's this "block user" option?
Meanwhile, at one of Evangel Cathedral sermons
That's not a site dedicated to the Eve Angel I'm thinking of is it...
It's what it says it is. Seems to work quite well where I've tested it.

Haha. Good effort. But two weeks early.
This is different. I'm scared...
Hold me?
😯
...and STILL no button(with the page numbers perhaps?) to take you back to the thread-index. (unless you count 'Forum Overview' all the way at the bottom, miles away on a phone and not specific enough if you are in Bike, or Chat, or for sale...)
That fundamental nutter flashy site is fantastic.
Certainly is, and all thanks to modeling in the spirit of Excellence (tm).
Edit: the Main Man's companion web site is pretty fantastic, too: http://www.donmearesministries.com/home.html
Where is the block user option?
