Hmmm, not that impressed. I'm sure I will stop noticing the colour change after a while but I don't like the new front page.

If you are going to [s]copy[/s] take inspiration from the BBC site at least have scrolling for the articles?

Hell yes !.

Apparently I may be in the market for a 50mph electric bike.
Which I will ride to the newsagent to play the national lottery.

Perhaps it reduces bandwidth costs if it's only in monochrome?

Can't remember the old version now.

Just a note but it'd be great if there was an option to remove the facebook plugin - it's blocked at a lot of companies so using the forum will be constantly triggering 'attempt to access blocked content' flags...

Check on my phone, it makes the txt stand out more, I like that.
Not so sure about the grey boarders and grey backgrounds to the forum links and search box, that just look unfinished (amateurish). Also the txt size on my comuter is just a bit big and look funny, yes I know I can change it but then it's too small or the spacing goes daft.

No doubt our feedback will all be ignored & we'll just get used to it, like every other forum change on here.

Couple of bugs
1) "Advanced Search" mouseovers to white (and vanishes)
2) On the forum activity page, when you have "23 hours ago" for example, it runs onto two lines. Not a catastrophe, but it's harder to scan than previously. Image below:
[img] [/img]

Couple of preferences:
a) I find the mousovers on the top menu a bit slow and unresponsive. A little at odds with the minimal layout.
b) The search box is hard to spot as it's dark on white and not very textfield-y

Otherwise, I get it - newspaper/minimal/crisp. Maybe a little at the expense of legibility and comfort.

Any decent company IT system will prevent you installing a non-standard browser (or any other software) which for most companies means use of IE only...

oh - the inhumanity. Especially if someone's locked to IE6 - shudders.
Actually, IE6 might increase workforce productivity - sensible.

I've already complained about performance issues with the Facebook widget. The problem is that it is dynamically generated, showing your friends, so the images aren't cached.

But I love change and progress.

Another couple of 'kind of bugs'
1) Some green remains (perhaps deliberately) on the search results page. (and some blue, but that looks nice and 'default')
2) There's no mouseover effect the main navigation submenu (i.e. Premier menu).

Hi guys, the new design is just an interim holding page before we fully implement the new Singletrackworld, which will be mostly Flash based and will look something like this.

It's a (metric) shedload faster on my iPhone 4 now, so despite the lack of colour and the ridiculous (even for 10 years ago) TNR font, I'm happy!

Incidentally, the forum as it was until yesterday was the only website I ever go on that caused my iPhone grief, used to slow it right down almost to a halt at times. This is a million times better!

Can I tender for that job please?

I have experience in Macromedia Director and can create the whole STW experience in Shockwave. I can deliver the whole project on cd-rom for easy distribution to your viewers. I can even include a 'space invaders' pre-loader for higher retention.

Should you require the Singletrack logo to be less 'static', I can look at that too. Burning, spinning, or perhaps just a subtle glint. I'm your man!

You see - STW towers have completely missed their target market.
I'm going to start a competitive forum.
It will be full of smilies, easy to insert lolcatz pictures for every occasion, a facepalm gallery and more.
The links down the side will be to 'classic threads' featuring spilt latex, shitting dogs, brandished bombmers, etc.
It won't have a social media plugin, because it will be the only online social spot you'll need!

I'm working on the logo now - once that's been agreed by the board, the rest can be knocked together using an online template. I'm thinking something along these lines.

Really?!?! I'd have loved to be in on that meeting:

"Hey the number of people browsing on iOS devices is through the roof, lets redesign the site using flash..."

I'm glad the Mag relaunch was a little better thought out.
