wow - what a beautiful bridge
have been using Kincardine for past few years but flew into Edin for a nice long weekend so first viewing
absolutely love the design
( but WTF have they done to security at Edin airport?)
It’s awesome, if you can get a chance to go over it as a passenger (so you can get a decent look at it) take it.
i go over it most days (coach driver) and it’s just amazing. The wind has no effect, even at windspeeds that would have closed the FRB, and of course no more dunk dunk dunk.
Sadly driving both ways.
But I love the simple design, the way the stanctions merge like a mirage as you approach. It had the air of Islamic architecture
simple lines but so beautiful
Went over on Friday morning and then back tonight in the dark. The lights were a great effect too
whats haooening with old bridge?
Beautiful bridge, best appreciated from the old bridge (cycling obvs). Good luck getting decent views through the wind baffles, but then without the baffles you get the full splendour of Rosyth (so maybe that's a blessing ) or the even the more stunning rail bridge with the other bridge obscuring it. 🙂
whats happening with old bridge?
The Scottish Parliament voted to scrap tolls on the bridge from February 2008.[5] The bridge was nearing the end of its life in the 2010s, and a parallel replacement was built. On 5 September 2017 all traffic was transferred to the new Queensferry Crossing.[6] This allowed the bridge to close for repairs and realignment work on the approach roads to enable its new role as a "public transport corridor": open only to buses, taxis, cyclists and pedestrians from 1 February 2018.[7]
On my recent crossings why do people still insist on slowing down to 40-50mph when going onto bridge, its a motorway now lets embrace the 70mph speed
What's up with the new airport security?
We're involved in a lot of projects out there, it's crazy how much is constantly going on, interested to hear some real world feedback..
because staring at the aircraft carrier obvs
Clearly investment going on which is good news but security was a shambles last night. Plus logistics - sign posts for departures send you right through the terminal building rather than fast direct way to check in desks - mood not helped that BA at the very far end.
It used to be simply walk through - now you have to walk to the other end of the first floor to go through the security shambles to then walk all the way back again and aground to be force fed duty free. Then walk the other end for the BA lounge 😏
(I did hit Edin at rush hour tbf but the roads were crammed too and then car hire is a wee treck)
Edin used to be a pleasurable experience. Now it’s almost as bad as London
Edin used to be a pleasurable experience. Now it’s almost as bad as London
That's because too many Londoners live in Edinburgh.
Security at Edinburgh - firstly can massively vary on queues depending on I don't know what..same flight, a month apart. One was crammed and waited 20+ mins, one I walked through with three others....
Secondly some is temporary while they build new arrivals.
And yes, we liked new bridge too.
Appreciate its work in progress but walking the length of the terminal three and. Half times is a bit silly.
Takes nothing away from beautiful bridge and proper links golf !
