It's a brilliant story and you should ignore those who want to spoil it by pointing out that the residential care home had merely told him that they not been able to get him onto an organised coach trip, when the version which claims that he was being held illegally against his will is so much more fun.

I've heard that he [i]escaped[/i] from the Tory Party 14 years ago when he defected to the other side, apparently that's not made up.
