I've never done anything involving jumping out/off things, but everything else everyone has mentioned I seem to have done. I think I'm quite lucky not to have an addictive personality.

@susepic - you need to rectify that with 2 of the following. One in particular. Nobody should go through life without trying MDMA at least once, believe me. It’s bloody brilliant! As far as product names goes, ‘Ecstasy’ does exactly what it says on the tin 😃

Nothing is worth the come down I suffered the only time I did it.
Same with Meth. Just horrible.

Harking back to may rave days, E's really mess with your brain chemistry for a few weeks afterwards, it not so much you get a come down, the day after, it's more like long covid, you just don't feel right.

I've never done meth, but I did a lot of speed back in the day... and pretty much all drugs at one time or another....and the come down from speed is brutal, to put it lightly.

I just stick to craft beer these days.

Not believing this one, science fiction covers a huge spectrum of films, not just space films.

yep, Jurassic Park, everyone likes Dinosaurs, must have seen that 🙂

nope, no star wars, third encounters type stuff, no jurassic park (altho personally i wouldnt class that as SF anyway), no horror SF, i genuinely dont think ive seen one.  never been much of a film watcher anyway and even accepting that SF is a broad spectrum (to include things like JP) i still dont think ive seen one.

EDIT:  and if JP is indeed SF, ive also never seen any of the raiders of the lost ark stuff either if that also qualifies?

Met a nice South African.

Worked with a couple and they were lovely folks.

Danced.

Ever? not even as a child? Even in the reactionary forces schools I attended, PE was often "dance and movement" Or on your own when no one was watching? Shuffled your feet to the beat? Never?

That's a shame, I've met a few including one who'd had to leave in the 80s due to her support of the anti-apartheid movement. I must admit the Spitting Image song was going round my head but was completely unjustified.

Yeah, it was the song, which one of my best mates, who is South African, was played by his boss on his first day at work here.

No kidding. So all those cultural touchstone that folks use as short cuts (on here especially) "These aren't the droids" "Nuke it from orbit" "I have seen things you people wouldn't believe" and on and on and on, must go straight over your head.

Withnail is one of those films. You either find it hilarious, or just not...I've never met anyone that seems ambivalent about it.

So I guess she wasn't the kind of south African the song was aimed at....

Two chicks at the same time, man.

Not sure that's something most people have done, even if every man had done so, I think they'd still be out numbered by the number of hetrosexual women + lesbians who hadn't had a threesome.

How is Jurassic Park (brilliant film, by the way) not science fiction? It's literally a fictional tale about impossible/futuristic science. It doesn't have to have ray guns and little green men to be science fiction

indeed.  no idea what films any of those quotes are from and probably many others besides.

yep, got me there, i do generally tend to think of SF as space/star trek/star wars/aliens etc, and dinosaurs as 'not SF' because they actually existed, but.......according to wikipedia.......

Science fiction (or sci-fi) is a film genre that uses speculative, fictional science-based depictions of phenomena that are not fully accepted by mainstream science, such as extraterrestrial lifeforms, spacecraft, robots, cyborgs, dinosaurs, mutants, interstellar travel, time travel, or other technologies.

..... it looks like its only the dinosaurs that ive mebbes got wrong.   and that list does actually reinforce the fact that i still believe i havent seen a SF film and probably never will.

Watched a single episode of

Corrie, Emmerdale, Breaking Bad, The Office, Father Ted, Mrs Browns Boys (crap, so I hear), Game of Thrones, Seinfeld, Star Trek NG

Seen any of the following movies/series

Shrek, The Hobbit, GodFather, Sopranos, Too Fast/Furious,

Played any variations of

GTA, Minecraft, Halo, CoD, Pokemon, Fifa, Sonic t H, etc etc

Most of these popular cultural references were going on around me, but not to me.

I'll get my cloak...
