Anybody on here identify as?

Man, the standard websites are pretty pathology paradigm aren’t they?

I’m thinking pretty much certain but resisting the diagnostic approach at present. Heard mixed results (and why go through the hassle if you aren’t seeking the disability card).

The Beardon book I thought was excellent though.

It's a scale don't forget. Unless severe it is not so much about a disability card as understanding yourself, strengths and weaknesses. And help improve interactactions with the more neurotypical.

Yeah, I do. I hit the diagnostic markers for autism but not in prescribed manner

Talking ASD? No, but might have in the past - and one of my kids very much so.

Not something I'm compelled to make our "thing" though, IYKWIM, seems like a bit of a rabbit hole.

So serious question - do people just have to "identify" without the need for a diagnosis?

Lol! It's 2019, you can "identify" as anything and everything you like without the need for a diagnosis.

Tell that to the thousands of parents struggling to get a diagnosis for their kids so they can get the educational help they need.

That's part where I'm coming from. But mainly it's the D that I'm railing against.

Getting a push towards diagnosis from work... But there's no benefit to me down that road.

Chaka: avoid the behavioural shit; square pegs round holes.

Different, not disordered...

You care to explain? Pm if you'd rather.
