I watched 'making a murderer' docu-drama (yes I know!)over the last week.
Found it utterly bonkers how the american legal system works, utterly utterly bonkers.
Heads up that a new season of Borgen is coming to Netflix in spring !!
I was looking for something to watch and came across crash and burn on prime,
How have I never heard of Tommy Byrne.
Well worth a watch.
we just discovered Last Man on Earth on Prime. very easy watching, pretty funny too. almost curb levels of cringe at times!
Used to watch Last Man On Earth with my son when he was a nipper. Was the only TV programme that could drag him away from Youtube on the iPad. There was a long wait between series, especially the last one! You're lucky to have it all available to binge.. although the downside is, some of the characters could get rather annoying if you watched too much of them! 🙂
How have I never heard of Tommy Byrne.
Ah, a legend in his own mind. What a piece of work
Have been watching The Sinner series on netflix, started off well, season 1 was good, season 2 was ok, but it went a bit mental in season 3, and season 4 is a real struggle to get into, i can see why they cancelled this now, such a shame after a good start and character development to do a game of thrones season 8 halfway through the series!
Yep. Loved the Sinner 1-3 but just can't watch this one.
The trailer for
Vikings Valhalla looks good, starting later this month.
Apologies if mentioned already…anyone caught The Hunt on Netflix? Thoughts?
El Candidato on Prime. Part-English and engage sub-titles for the part-Spanish. Spy/political thriller and well-worth watching
Ozark on Netflix
Parks & Rec binge of late. Always meant to try it out and so glad we did.
Leslie Knope is truly a work of comedic genius*. As is Ron Swanson. And the framed print of his favourite breakfast food on his office wall.
* How a character can be so lovably gung-ho and yet despicably narcissistic at the same time. A Partridge comes to mind.
Parks & Rec has so many great characters. Ace.
Wooooahhhh Wooo…………Lil’ Sebastian……………
Did anyone mention The Tinder Swindler on NF yet?
That's a wild ride. I don't normally get feelings of violence provoked by TV shows, but that bloke really needs a good shoeing.

It wants you to think it's satire, but it's just a shlocky shoot 'em up really

Enjoyable 90mins of utter guff 👍
Saw "The Hunt" at the cinema, remember thinking it was pretty good fun. Critics panned it, but dunno what they were expecting. It was better than No Time To Die that's for sure. Starred Dr. Carrie from Nurse Jackie, didn't it?
Watched Power of the Dog on and off over the last week. Bit of a slow burn for sure, and despite a strong performance from BC, I can't see why it justifies all the Oscar-winning furore. Maybe it's because one of the underlying threads is a trendy topic right now, and it ticks the panoramic scenery box with the Montana mountains? An okay watch and not your normal Western (albeit set in the 20s) for sure.
Just watched Narco's and got completely hooked on it.
Everyone knows some of the story surrounding Escobar but the level of violence and the bribery within the police and government is astounding. The programme is interspersed with real footage so if you don't like seeing real dead bodies (I know no one really does) give it a miss, but this also adds to the realism of it as you know that it's not just a made up drama. Narco's Mexico next for me.
+1 Narcos.
We watched a few episodes last year and it doesn't pull any punches, so much so the my missus found it too intense to keep watching. Very well produced and something I'll pick back up one day.
new Ozark is spectacular
either way, I really enjoyed it 😃It wants you to think it’s satire, but it’s just a shlocky shoot ’em up really

When does it get past 'dull'... i think i'm on episode 3 and struggling with this series.
Narco’s Mexico next for me.
I thought that was even better. Well, well worth watching.
There's another drama based on the same story on the 'flix called El Chapo. It's a totally different take on the same facts. It doesn't look anywhere near as glossy or well produced, and I preferred the characters in Narcos, but great to see the same story told in a different way.
BTW apropos nothing, Inventing Anna is painfully slow. Can't get into that at all. They have dragged out a great story and turned into guff as far as I'm concerned. The coverage at the time had me hooked and was looking forward to this, but I'd avoid if you've not started it yet.

Yeah, I always found it tolerable at best. Julia Garner is fantastic but Jason Bateman was badly miscast and the rest of the cast are just doing the best they can with a pretty silly story. It's trying to be a tormented antihero thing but the plot is just so full of holes. At least Reacher is meant to be silly fun, Ozark just seems silly.
Just binged - well, mostly - Dogs in Space. Cutesy animation with a terrific voice cast and a storyline that develops really well. Chidi Anagonye as a dog works so much better than you could ever imagine.
The new Ozark feels like it's just plodding predictably toward the inevitable - same ideas as previous seasons, increasingly unlikely plotlines and nobody looks like they're really feeling it now.
- Oh look, there's a new drug trafficker guy who's related to the kingpin and is a bit loco, where did they get that idea from? Oh yes, it was Better Call Saul WHICH DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING SO MUCH BETTER
- Oh look, the teenage lad has become a money laundering whizzkid, that seems realistic
- Oh look, one of the world's most wanted druglords is blackmailing a smalltime money launderer to broker him a deal with the FBI. I'm sure that's exactly how it works
It's just a bit shit, IMO

Good violent romp with one of the main leads from GLOW....an easy 90 mins we enjoyed
Not Netflix, but HBOs station eleven.
Best TV I've seen for a long time.
Ozark...
When does it get past ‘dull’… i think i’m on episode 3 and struggling with this series.
I had mixed feeling about it. It's entertaining enough, but it depends on how much you're willing to switch your brain off. It's not the same show it was in the first series.
Jason Bateman was badly miscast
I actually think he's one of the more believable characters.
I don’t normally get feelings of violence provoked by TV shows, but that bloke really needs a good shoeing.
Tinder Swindler was nuts. You are correct, he need a good shoeing. I also think though that he is very talented at what he does, its just a shame his choice of career resulted in so much hurt for others. He must have some serious powers of organisation / confidence / logistics / planning and sales to get away with what he did for so long. Not defending him at all, just think the guy has got some very misguided skills.
Not Netflix, but HBOs station eleven
I'm three episodes in. Excellent cast, not sure where it's going but it's well made.

Jeez....Julia Garner is surely gonna win THE award for worst accent of all time. It was sorta appropriate in Ozark but she also plays a German (or Russian?) heiress in Inventing Anna with the same accent as Ozarks!
(Well, at least part of the time...other times there's a vague attempt at what might be construed as a mixed "East European" accent). Terrible!
Let's get something straight. Julia Garner is perfect in every way and I will not have a bad word spoken about her.

Luckily for you, my taste is better than yours...😉
I appreciate this is a Netflix thread, but there is a Prime reccomendation up there so im going to risk it.
(And we have only just got a TV, so apologies if there was a thread about this back in 2014)
Inside No9, is incredible.
Its fair to say some are better than others, but
i love the premise, and
i love the feeling that Steve and Reece just seem to have used it to unload all their mad ideas
i love that the get to include some great actors
i love that they stand alone, and are so variable.
The writing is so fast, and clever. The twists are always fun, and not always predicatble.
SO GOOD.
(P.S: Ozarks is great, Julia Garner is wonderful, This new "Anna" thing seems to be good so far)
Inside No9, is incredible.
As you guessed I'm pretty sure it has it's own thread that gets revived every time a series emerges.
This is more a question than a recommendation I think, but my son has been watching Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (Netflix), and it sucks me in whenever I walk past the TV. It looks incredible, and has a stellar cast - has anyone watched it themselves and would recommend it for adult viewing?
Also Prime: Animal Kingdom. Eight episodes in to S1 and it's really good pulls you in quickly and keeps you watching crime/family stuff with a california setting, a bit of surf and an 8.2 imdb rating. How come I'd never heard of it?
Finished Archive 81. I'd struggle to recommend it really, It was a bit ponderous, (8 hour-long episodes that really should've been 5) The idea's familiar enough if you're a fan of Lovecraft, and the performances (for something that's a camp as it is) are good enough. But the build up is slow, the reveal is obvious and is over and done with so fast you wonder why it took them so long to get there, and the ending predictable.
How come I’d never heard of it?
You know there was a movie 20 years or so ago, right?

I do now. Either way there's three series to go at which is just the right amount.
Watched the first couple of episodes of Pam & Tommy last night (Disney+) which we really enjoyed! Something a bit different from CGI-laden nonsense 😃 Seth Rogan is great (as usual). Cool soundtrack too.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned it but I noticed "Maiden" was on Netflix. I've almost no interest in sailing but it's a terrific and inspirational watch.

Started off promisingly didn’t it. Gave up after E04/05. Just got really boring.
Btw, Animal Kingdom on Prime is great fun. Yes, the original Australian movie was fantastic but the series does very well translating it to West Coast US. Ellen Barkin plays the mum really well.
