So my tv is about to pack up and i haven't bought a new tv since the last century and haven't really kept abreast of the advances in technology. Now it's not that i don't trust the salesman in Curry's but people who use the word err.. a lot when answering questions don't inspire a lot of confidence!

We have £400 max to spend and it would seem that the choice is LED or LCD, you seem to get more for your money going LCD, but are there any pitfalls to this over LED. Size wise our current TV is 26", I'd be happy going to 32" whilst the missus thinks 42" would be better.

Any opinions, advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure if you could get an LED for less than 400. So it would seem a LCD would be affordable. You can get some top of the range older LCDs for good prices nowadays. 40 would be a good size, once you have lived with it for a few months it seems small.

I used to tell the girls that a cigarette was about 8 inches, that's not too far off the mark is it?

GW - non of your business 😉

Plopnofear - Curry's have 32" LED for less than £400, hence the conundrum.

To be fair if it's just a matter of slightly better picture then after our current TV anything will seem amazing, just want it to last a while.
