Trying these products out after a few recommendations here and elsewhere.

Took a punt on the “Natural” Strawberry whey protein to start with.

It’s ghastly.

Sickly and gag-inducing; like being forced to vigorously fellate Bertie Bassett.

Any recommendations for flavours less likely to make me want to cry?

I just buy unflavoured and blend with cordial.

Unflavoured and add a splash of summer fruits squash.

Unflavoured and get their flavour drops.
Chocolate, toffee, raspberry, banana all good.
Their peanut butter is bloody good too - nothing in it unlike most others.

I just buy the unflavoured, never felt the need to add anything to it!

When you buy flavoured you pay a fair bit more for less protein powder, so doesn't seem worth it. A 99p bottle of cordial lasts ages...

Vanilla is great
Blueberry is good
Chocolate brownie is great

in my experience. Bold added for emphasis over regular chocolate.

All of the above work with a banana too

Vanilla; quite a subtle taste, and you can always add a banana to give it more taste.

Recently tried chocolate ...rank!!

What footflaps said - check the quantities on the ingredients list for the natural v flavoured ones, then go & invest in some of aldi or lidl's nesquik analog 😉

salted caramel - nice sweet but not artificial.
pecan pie - tastes like pecan pie, but a bit artificial
chocolate peanut butter - just artificial; the weirdest vegetably after taste. AVOID.

I prefer their peanut but over vanilla but that's decent as well.
Not tried any others.

I think the one I normally buy is strawberry cream. It's fine - I make it with water not milk - it's not dissimilar to strawberry yazoo.

Banana had a slightly 'burny' aftertaste for me.

Jam roly poly tasted very sweet and artificial and a bit weird.

Cookies and cream was acceptable, just about. But very sweet.

Tiramisu was rank.

So strawberry cream gets my vote.

Putting cost aside for a moment, are there any proteins that actually taste decent? Not chemically. Or chalky. Or too sweet. I know - moon on a stick...

I used to really like Optimum Nutrition chocolate Casein protein. Really nice made thicker than instructions say to make an angel delight type substance!

White chocolate was nice, but had to to switch to unflavoured...just chuck a banana in the blender with it.

This seems to be the MyProtein issue. Their endurance carb drink comes only in tropical oversweet which dyes your waterbottles orange.

What do people take whey protein for?

It just tastes of whey (milk)...

Which isn't surprising as that's what it is.

I normally wait until they're on offer and then by two - a choc brownie (lovely) and an unflavoured one then add half from each into a tub (1.5kg) and use from that. It's easier than opening and resealing the bag it comes in every time.

What's it called? I've been thinking about supplementing again and considering alternatives to High5 4:1

Tri Carb.

The Energy Bars are tasty as well - http://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/energy-bar-12-x-60g/11098642.html but the Berry flavour is better than the apricot (yet they no longer seem to have it).

I find the MyProtein range hugely confusing. Not at all easy to find stuff. Worth holding out for the best discounts as well.

What's the Protein in ProLong meant to achieve? The benefits don't mention it.

That's exactly why I asked you. I often find myself just idly clicking around in circles in the past. I've specifically tried to find products like tri-carb and pro:long to no avail. They need more clearly defined product categories and menus as well as maybe different colour schemes for the products to help differentiate.

The flavoured ones all have sucralose in them. There is quite a bit of real science to suggest it is best avoided.
