It's one of the 3 radiotherapy machines at the local hospital (this one's called Orion).

You must be disappointed you got the one named after a 1990s Ford... Unless the other option is "Probe" 😯

Dibbs, my father went through the whole thing a couple of years ago. He decided he didn't want cancer any more, so he dealt with it. It was hard, so, so hard, but we all fought with him. Seeing him looking next to death was spine chilling. He fought. We fought with him. We weren't going to lose.

Seeing him alive, happy, healthy and still on this earth to be cuddling my daughter has made the whole thing worthwhile. He held her the other day, looked at her, then me and said, "Do you know what? I'm so glad I'm not dead." We both nearly cried, but then we realised the rugby was on, so we got back to the important business. 🙂

Put simply - Fight it. Keep fighting it. Everyone around you will fight with you. Good luck!

Mrs mW is on day 25 of radiotherapy and day 23 of chemotherapy tomorrow. Churchill Hospital in Oxford for us.

It's not all doom and gloom, staff are well trained and have been excellent, achieving a difficult balance of friendly and professional. The treatment seems to affect people in different ways. She was getting very tired by week 3 but never got any worse than that and if anything has perked up a bit in weeks 4 and 5. You'll meet lots of people in the same boat, have chat, people are ace.

If you want to talk about anything off forum then email me, only too happy to share any small amount of knowledge that we've picked up over the last couple of months.

My brother's not long finished his treatment. Pretty much fixed him, so results are good. All the best Dibbs.

One of my clients is having a ride on something similar in Glasgow... she has said that she isn't able to see her young daughter for three weeks as she will be too radioactive.... 😯

Update, this is what the machine does, pretty painless at the time but the effects (blistering, ulcers, lack of taste etc) build up as the treatment goes on.

I hope you are lying in there visualising which fancy new Whyte you will but to hit the Quantocks again soon.

The treatment must feel really nasty. Hope you are doing as well as you can be given the circumstances.

Only 4 more treatments left (finish next Wednesday), I'm feeling pretty good and the Quantocks are finally beginning to look very appealing out the window (there was a light dusting of snow overnight). I've been off the bike since October so it's going to be a struggle.

My Father has Primary Liver Cancer at the moment, luckily he is in France so his treatment is about trying to cure it rather than Palliative as it would be over here.
Hes had targeted radiotherapy and will be starting 3 doses of chemo soon.
