Got my new car 2 weeks ago. Chose a Ford Kuga AWD. Now the snow's here, I can still get up our track (many STW'ers know our house). Feeling v.smug,

Ah, pehaps not such an inspired choice. 2 hours digging it out from 6am today after being far to zealous going down the track and trying to get through an area of snow that was 700mm deep (between the cattle grids if you know it) where it just bellied out with the wheels off the ground. Ended up taking down the 27year old Landrover and dragging it out!

I quite like Kugas but am glad we have a Defender.

luckily we have a proper Landrover (ie freezing cold, sheep-shelter back, diesel, noisy, old) and a cut-down buggy that started life as a V8 Rangerover with soft-top and big wheels etc that is the bro-in-laws project but now it's finished they won't (easily) let it into Australia where he now lives
