Let's hope the England bowlers can do something with this pitch

And after a reasonably promising start... I'm suitably pessimistic for our chances in this game, here's hoping we can perform with the ball and in the field as well as ****stan have done today.

Come on, 210 is quite a decent score.

(wait - you say it's NOT 20:20?)

The good ****stan turned up today, given exactly the pitch they would like. We were awful, with the bat - bowlers looked toothless.

Urgh, indeed. It's almost the typical English way - we have our bad day at the office in the game that really matters when our opponents turn up with their 'A' game.
If we would have lost playing like we had in the group games it wouldn't feel half as bad.
Congratulations to ****stan, hope they play this well in the final.

oh come on anyone can beat anyone on their day in ODI , ****stan bowled superbly and won the toss. English one day cricket is in a very very good place.

Absolutely! A great performance and deservèd winners.

An amusing snippet from cricinfo, on the unpredictability of ****stan - "They have not just defied logic, they have spat in logic's face, questioned the moral inclinations of its parents, kicked it in the shins, put it in a headlock, strangled it unconscious, then shoved it into the mud and set its trousers on fire."

It's T20 FFS and he got 2 runs a ball. Stupid dismissal mind.

Was pondering that just listening on the radio in the car.

Does 14 balls constitute an 'innings' nowadays? Even if you do get 30-odd 😉

That's the point, he was in, he was scoring, and he gave his wicket away. Again.

Some day, he is going to come good and get a bucketful of runs. Some day....

He is scoring at the rate wanted by the team. 30 striking at 200 is hardly a failure in T20

In a game like that, with the score as required, he should have batted to the close.

Apparently he's not seeing well these days*, so I suppose that takes away ablot of the enjoyment of it.

*Aggers was on five live this morning and said he had an eye disease, but I can't remember what it is.

Have a good retirement Blowers, you'll be missed.

"Listeners will now be relieved to know that their chances of being told the right name of the fielders at third man and fine leg have greatly increased.

"I hope some will be sad that they will now hear less about the lifestyles of pigeons, seagulls and helicopters, although I fear the general feeling will be one of huge relief."

Probably for the best as the mistakes are starting to mount up now and grate a bit, and he shouldn't be remembered for that. However any commentator could learn an awful lot from him. You don't need to listen to him for long to know the score, a basic but essential task which too many of the newer commentators forget.

Only to the extent of being an OE and having a plummy accent, he has only ever been a commentator, a very good one who paints wonderful pictures, but Aggers has taken on Johnner's mantle and is an exceptional broadcaster - Blofeld says as much in his announcement. He is a fabulous interviewer - just listen and be moved by his interviews last year with Michael Holding about Tony Cozier or the one with Bairstow's mum when he scored his maiden century - both incredibly moving. Whilst he is around, TMS is in safe hands - I think Simon Mann is ok but he doesn't have the whimsy that marks out the best contributors on the programme.

Anybody here with live pictures? From the commentary it sounds incredibly harsh to be done for that when a ball you're not watching hits you.

Indeed. Obstructing the field to needs to be intentional, iirc.

Still, he was due a good one, and he got it!

Hmm, I may be a biased England fan, but that seems an incredibly harsh decision. How on earth can the umpire rule that to be deliberate? Especially given that if the ball hadn't hit him he'd have been fine.

Umpire probably decided that he deliberately crossed the pitch so that he'd be in between the fielder and the stumps?

That's certainly the only reason I can see for the decision, but watching that turn back several times it still doesn't seem anything other than an attempt to get back as quickly as possible. I mean why on earth would you do anything other than get back as quickly as possible?

What an innings by Hales to win One Day Cup for Notts - Stoneham gets 144 not out and is on the losing side - that must hurt.

Will toddle up on Sunday, other commitments ruled out the other days, including being a participant in a middle order batting collapse on Saturday that will no doubt resemble England in the 90s

I know there's been a one day series and the Champions Trophy but it feels really late for the first test of the summer.

Got tickets for the Friday of the Windies Lords test later on in the summer...... anyone else?

Knowing the Windies, could be over by then.

Which now makes Williamson the odd one out from the "big 4" - he only made 91 on his debut as captain and had to wait for his second match to make a ton.

277-5 SA looking a bit ragged in the sun, should make it to at least 400 if they can negotiate the new ball.
