MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Ok. So I volunteered at last minute to borrow a HD video recorder and record wedding speech for a mate.
Trying (in vain) to just get the footage onto a couple of disks for him. However, the SD card didn't work and the footage was recorded onto the internal memory of the camera.
I've managed to copy the 47 mins worth across onto another SD card I've popped in. I now have two (?!) MTS files I can't view by putting the ad card directly into my ancient (9 year old) Sony laptop. We operate on an iPad in the household and never use the laptop.
Any ideas to get this footage onto disk? Tried downloading recent software, but it's all not compatible.
Can't I just take it to max spielman or something?!! Edit - apparently not!!
They're a pain to deal with unfortunately. You used to be able to open/convert them with iMovie on a Mac - not done it for ages though. If you have a friend with Adobe Creative Cloud/Premiere I think that will do it too.
Download a free Windows app called Handbrake and you should be able to convert the MTS into a common file format (m4v/mp4, for example).
Try Cloudconvert.com - converts pretty much anything to anything, I'd go for mp4. Never tried it with anything big though.
Or Handbrake should work too as above. You might also be able to use VLC, but that can be a bit flaky.
Used Handbrake in the past, have also found Freemake very reliable. It says it converts MTS files.
I actually bought a license for Freemake cos its so useful 😯
A 47 minute wedding speech?
Well three of them, FOB, Groom, Best Man. That's normal isn't it?!
Cheers All. See if I can get something onto the laptop again.
Cheers!
