Hi all,

I am probably being very dim and am exceptionally tired but could someone please help me with making headers and footer like the document below in MS Word?

[img] [/img]

What I would like is a black line at the top and bottom of the main body of text with the page numbers below at the bottom, and with the section heading at the top.

I'm struggling on lots of counts unfortunately! Page number- no problem. Inserting a header- no problem. What I can't do it get a different header on different pages- only one which appears on every page of the document. Also I can only get a blue line and can't see how to change its colour. Similarly with the footer, I can only get an odd line style not a nice simple black line.

Please help point out exactly how dim I am being! 😀

Many thanks in advance DanW

You can draw a line into a footer. For different pages I think you can only set it so the first page is different.

Thanks Pook. I guess I could create a new file for each section but that starts to get messy...

1. Insert header, then Delete whatever standard format you do not want to leave it blank.

2. Insert footer for page number.

3. To draw the line instead of using the " ---- " then do the followings:

i. Goto Home tab.
ii. Place the cursor at the header then footer on your page, then goto 'paragraph' and click on the button with the square box (border and shading) outline the line you need to include and in your case 'bottom border' or 'top border'.

You can even select the thickness of the line if you wish ... using 'border and shading'.

There you got it and now all the pages will be the same except the page number.

To have a different footer in different bits of the document you need to insert a section break.

Then after the break, edit the footer and deselect the option that links it to the previous section. Any changes to the footer now only apply to this section.
