Bearing in mind how difficult it was for Guy Martin to do it, is this faked or what is he doing different?

Guy martins bike didn't have the front ski on it like this did........but my guess is ...real

Must have a lot more floatation. Guy was limited by the size of the skis he could have for it to qualify as a record.

It's a lighter motorbike, with a front ski on salt water so all those things will help it's bouyancy.
Still utterly batshit loco though.
