Yup it's Goldie - and yeah he looks pretty old these days... 😛

[img] [/img]

Filming a programme with the super cheesy title 'Goldie's Rough Diamonds' 🙂

If you'd spent every weekend (and lots of weekdays) for the last 15 years or more DJing at silly o clock in the morning all around the world you'd probably look like that too.

He was on eastenders for a while. Think his career hit rock bottom at that point. No going back after nasty s&&& like that!

He's actually someone talented, rather than a "minor celebrity" and all the Heat reading OK smeared ****y photographer in the gutter crap that that imples.

Goldie is great. After DJing he'd often spend the rest of the night in the club chatting away with the punters.

He was pretty impressive in Meastro or whatever it was called when he learnt to be a conductor. A big step back up from Eastenders.

The guy is/was a bit of a superstar. No minor celebrity there.

Not much minor about Goldie. He was the geez in the 90s. Talented grafitti artist, musician, (less talented) actor, went out with Björk etc etc.

Think you need to remove the sand from your vagina - was only a light hearted thread title. 😛

Unless you are particularly into jungle/dnb (which I am/was) I wouldn't say he was that famous - lots of people hadn't heard of him round here anyway.

Massive respect to the man...

There's not many guys that have been DJing as long as he has that can still rock any party, but he is one of them. Last time I saw him was a couple of years ago at one of the Warehouse Project nights in Manchester, when he was on after Pendulum doing a live set (and they were SH*TE!!!)... He had to really rescue the crowd... Which to be fair, wasn't difficult for him, he is a legend after all!

And not forgetting that he was pretty much single handedly responsible for bringing D&B into the mainstream in any way shape or form... As well as having pretty much shaped the genre in the first place!

He hasn't made anything good since Rob Playford stopped doing his engineering though imo. 😉

His label Metalheadz have put out some great tunes over the years but I find it very hard to get excited about dnb these days.

It was this...

that got me in to D&B back in the day. I'd never heard anything like it before and being a bit of an old rocker it sent me off down a new musical path.....
I think the video was banned by the BBC for some reason as well.

looking old for his age isn't he.. I wish he would stay off the telly though.. talented artists and musicians aren't usually safe for telly.. (in a squirm factor way)

except obviously for Tony Hart and Rolph and Cheryl Cole.

EDIT:
and I agree that it's a shame about the D+B scene but It will never have the energy and enthusiasm and creativity that it had during those first five years or so..

Not sandy about the thread title, just the word 'celebrity' makes me grind my minge.

Did anyone see that programme where he had to write a classical piece, and as he cant write or read music he had to draw what he wanted?

The piece actually turned out pretty good IMO

He featured in a Bond film (The World is not Enough) as Robbie Coltrane's sidekick Bullion if I remember rightly. Nice little cameo I think.

Goldie on IMDB

Also in Snatch and more lately Eastenders and lastly the Paul O'Grady show 🙂

It was obviously a trick question anyway as the real minor celebrity is the man on the right - Geoff Dixon from [url=

Ice Factory 🙂
