We will be in touch
I've just 'received' the above virus on my home PC. There's a shedload of advice on t'internet, some of it conflicting. Anyone got the definitive cure? PC is a Dell, about 10yrs old, running XP, if that helps. To make matters worse, it has infected some important files on Dropbox which have stopped us using a programme at work (a remote operation for Variable message signs). So, is it possible to fix that as well? Help!!
Throw it down the stairs?
sorry.
Have you got up to date anti-virus on your PC? Can you schedule a boot-time scan? If so, do that and reboot your PC. Should be problem solved.
No, I deleted them and use the Windows one ...
Try a system restore - press F8 when booting (before the Windows splash screen appears) and select it from the menu.
Damn, I'd hoped this thread would be about the scum themselves being to blame for sending out a virus.
I'll try all those tonight, thanks. Any Dropbox experts?
Method 1 of Cougar's link up above worked for me on a XP machine.
I had it ,and used either Malwarebytes or Superantispyware, can't remember which, mind you it was so long ago it was the Glasgow Met Police.
Get a Mac?
*wonders how long before first proper virus hits OS X

Or just install decent AV.
I got that one. Stuff like Norton wouldn't touch it as in my case it had been invited in via a fake Adobe mesage. I believe thats dead common.
There were several bits of free software to use. Can't remember which one but I think it was scandinavian or something. Easy and faultless
avg free has just replaced my works incumbent trend av, so much better. also download spybot, tis a good little bit of free software for males are and the like.

Adobe Flash and Reader are the usual suspects, there seem to be exploits against them all the time. Java seems to be another.
