perhaps Schumacher picked the best time to go.
Lauda , the guy who oversaw Ferrari's demise despite whatever he said, seems to have got a lot of power quickly in the team.

Lauda's argument for what has occured must have found traction with the board of Daimler Benz.

Lauda is just another tool in the sizeable garage available to Daimler Benz. If he doesn't fit, he will be replaced.

In these rolls the wiser person accepts they will never choose when or how they will leave and that's the only certainty.

Nico should be worries, he's lost a big ally, he needs to make this season against Hamilton count, otherwise he will be gone.

I suspect a season of crashes and mechanical breakdowns for Lewis and who knows he may have a get out clause in his contract to go and visit Ferrari in 2014...

Lauda has an impressive record in team management
Just look at how Jaguar Racing flourished under his control...

Interesting. You must admit something needed to change at Mercedes F1.

At least Hamo wont suffer Mclarens inconsistency which boarded on farcical.

Yeah, he'll be able to trundle around in the mid top 10 all season thinking that,

Do you actually think hes trundling along on a middling talent? Hes got talent, just doesn't have the team behind him.

If he'd averaged 5th all season long he'd have scored 10 more points than he actually did this year…

hell no, he got all the talent in the world - he'll be trundling around in a middling car wondering where McLaren got all their speed from, wining to his race engineer for all to hear

5th - just where do you think Merc will get that speed from, and taking a look at the amount of mechanicals they had this year, i highly doubt Lewis will trouble the top 10 at the end of 2013.
Merc gave up on the 2012 car just after monaco, understanding that the development route and time on DDRS just did not give them the rewards in the race they needed and also gave them a lot of problems with front wing adjustments and balance, as well as thier inherit ability to totally rip up the tyres.

given all that, with ZERO testing, they wont trouble many next year.

AFAICS Ross Brawn is still team principal at Merc F1. Haug's role within Merc was far more wide reaching & covered DTM etc. as well. However it seems that Haug is copping the blame for the Merc F1 project's failure to deliver since the Brawn buyout and, with Lauda worming his way in to the organisation, is moving aside. Haug was well liked and respected by a lot of past & current drivers, Lauda seems to be more of a German Eddie Jordan - well connected but will be outspoken and opinionated given half a chance.

It'll be interesting to see how things work out between Ross Brawn & Lauda. I get the impression that Brawn and Haug were similar characters, thoughtful, deliberate, collaborative, technical types whereas Lauda may just turn up, drop a bombshell and then clear off while the dust settles.

I don't know but unless RB or Ferrari put out a total pig, he'll struggle to out score Vettel and Alonso

Did you even watch F1 this year. I think Mercedes were equally inconsistent albeit lower down the field than McLaren other than that one really good race. If the choice is between inconsistent in the top 8 or inconsistent in the top 16 I'll go for the former.

Whats Schumachers input going to be? I wonder how he'll work with Hamo.

I'd say its a fair bit likely one of those two will do precisely that. Guess which?

But it wasn't enough of a pig, it'll have to be really bad, maybe as bad as a Mercedes 🙂

interesting Schumi + Vettel won ROC , in equal equipment Schumi can still beat the rest. would have been nice to see him in a Ferrari or a Lotus next year, perhaps theres still a chance!

By that assumption, you'd have to say Rosberg is the best driver in F1 as he beat Schumacher this year. 12 vs 8 in qualifying and he had basically double the points. Schumacher on his day is as fast as anyone but I think his hunger isn't there any more when the car isn't right.

edit : also just heard this morning Grosjean beat everyone in the "singles".

so by your assumption he should beat everyone.
my post was a little tongue in cheek, perhaps it didnt come across, but i still think F1's loss without him , esp in a better car.

btw: schumi had a number of mech failures, penalties, and issues with the team not doing the right thing with the tyres in qualy ( i can think of 2 examples where they put the wrong tyres on his car, and one where they sent him out without the time to get round before the flag), and also in the race - if you look at race trim, schumi was in fact ahead of rosberg on many many occasions in the year, until mech failures hampered his progress.
considering Rosberg was supposed to be the new Schumi, he's in both Vettel and Schumi shadown STILL after all these seasons. its make or break year for him this coming season against lewis.
