I use Avast, it's free and I've never had an issue.

Don't renew your existing subscription, take out a new one which you'll find has 50% off.

Avast and/or MSE, in either order. That is all.

MSE here as well

Got stung a few years ago by not knowing that the PC I had which came with Norton also had a box ticked on the Norton website which billed my credit card year after year for renewal.
Thankfully after the first year I binned the card.

i'd rather surf the web in text mode than pay £45 for virus protection that wont protect you (our business version never does for the fast spreading bad ass viruses)

edit damn link dont work..

Heard this on the radio the other night which might be helpful for the best free antivirus:

MSE

If you windows 7 microsoft escentials does all you need for free

I think malwarebytes is brilliant but not actually antivrus software. I think you'd need something else as well

MSE

... is the correct answer.

Make sure you uninstall McAfee first, they'll fight.

And,

As 'paid-for' AV goes, McAfee would be fairly low on my list.

Do not give MacAffee another penny of your money.

When you uninstall McAfee, Google for a removal tool. It should get rid of all of it. I did this for Norton & it seemed to work well.

I then installed MSE & it's been brilliant.
