Hmm.. I'll think I'll have to stick with tradition, considering the time of year.

Sorry, that's an invalid move. Bethnal Green to Mudchute at Christmas would put the next player in knipp, and as per the OP,

non aggressive moves only

Also, I don't think you're taking this game seriously. The middle of a move is no time to start doing exercises.

Hmmmmm.

I take it we're using the Bismark amendment on non-consecutive clockwise moves?

So, Porte Molitor, the hard way.

I hate to do this. But I was sure that the 1914 trench rules were declared null and void after the 1944 ardennes forest gambit was established

I'm guessing it's too early for a deep foray to Gare de Lyon, so I'll skirt Piccadilly Circus and straight to Green Park

Quite true old chap, however Entente Cordiale, and all that.

I'm off to see Big Bertha in Bayswater

Bayswater, hmm?

Well that leaves a nice diagonal free to Kings Cross St Pancras which should open up the game a bit.

If we were to go North West now the doors would close too soon so i'll be an Angel and head East.

Whitechapel ! Dear lord, I think we should coco round to the civilized world, although this may be classed as a backwards move, if someone could clarify.

Mornington Crescent. It's a game played on the london Tube Map. the aim, as the title suggests, is to get to Mornington Crescent.

The rules are a bit complicated (and we're using an old ruleset here for nostalgia reasons), the best way to learn is probably by playing.

Unfortunately, under these rules and assuming the Vienna amendment, we now have to go to Paddington sorry everyone, that's the rule.

Back to Temple just to get us out of a hole. Anyone else having memories Stockholm '82?

Vauxhall seems a little exposed for me, though I think I follow your logic. In which case: Seven Sisters.

I don't want to put you in Nidd obviously with it being Christmas so I'll use one of Trumpington's Variations here and go to Embankment. I know it's a bit of an obvious move but it's a good strong play in these situations I always find.

If the argyle street parabola is valid today, and I believe it is, then I should be able to play Goodge Street without being considered too aggressive. Of course that really depends on what's played next.

Apologies, I haven't played in a while so I am probably a little rusty but...

... sideways chimney sweep to Parsons Green - Hanover convention rule.

Oh I say sir, your rust is showing.

Change at Embankment for Mornington Crescent.

Er.... I may be a bit rusty but I still know the hangdog rule so you clearly can't do that without going via Embankment and that's red blocked from Onzadog's move.

As such, I call Knightsbridge.

Rusty indeed, very well done Cougar.

EDIT:- I may have missed that. Do we need to call for an adjudicator? Given that your play stopped mine being too aggressive, I might not be considered impartial enough on this one.

Or are we playing Berlin contraption rules? (does anyone still play those?)

Funnily enough, that's the reason I'm late back to the game. Never play strip bridge on a Tuesday night with Dusseldorf Helga, she really does stick to the Berlin contraption rules 😯 It'll be sore tomorrow.

On which note, Shepherd's Bush

Well, it's a bold move, but I would like to play a left handed variation of Firmingtons gambit!

Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute.

You're right of course, but you forget I picked up a black token right at the start of the game. The black token explicitly trumps the red block (see "Russett's Gambit" in Appendix B) and opens up the entire Northern Line. From there, as you say, it's trivial to change at Embankment for MC.

To be fair I should specified that I was playing my token, but I presumed that it was fairly obvious what I was doing.

Cougar - I'm pretty certain you need to have invoked the Maginot Amendment (3rd ed if I'm not mistaken) to be able to play your token. And since Cap'n's slipped in Penge you're miw definitely blocked for three turns.

Which neatly allows me Hendon Central

As Hendon Central is on the zone boundary I am taking the epping forest ruling on transverse steps and going to Leytonstone

Sorry for the delay, I was getting some adjudication on Cougar's Bank-to-MC move. I thought I'd seen it before and I was right. The Right Reverend, Reverend Cluster used it during an international friendly in 1921 at the Vatican whilst building trade relations with Togo. Some of you might remember Cluster as "Mortar, Vicar?" for his use of diagonal moves during the Tour of India '62.
In a mixture of blind luck and epic genius, the move does stand, well done Coug.

As with all WW1 fixtures it is customary for the victor to hand out sherry and chocolate.
