Turner Contemporary if that's your thing.
Dreamland has been revamped for that olde English seaside amusement park feeling.
Not a lot else to shout about unless there's an event or gig at the Winter Gardens.
Canterbury has shopping & the Cathedral (currently under restoration) & there are one or two 'wildlife' parks in the area - Wildwood, Wingham, Howletts.
A bit further afield there's:
Broadstairs is a stereotypical quiet(ish) town with a decent beach, coffee house & ice cream parlour etc
Folkestone has undergone a major facelift with an arty quarter, the Harbour Arm has been completely updated and (unfortunately the opening has been delayed) the F51 urban sports centre.
Dover with its castle & WW2 heritage.
Whitstable if oysters & seafood are your thing.
Joss Bay is pleasant albeit can get over crowded.

Taking a bike? There's a really nice traffic-free route from Canterbury to Whitstable (which goes through the woods where there's also some fun if undemanding singletrack). You can carry on up the coast to Margate and beyond, lots of it traffic-free along the seafront (although it's pretty busy in the summer).
Don’t forget the shell grotto in Margate!
Lots of excellent beers and micropubs all over the place. I’d recommend the Thomas Tallis in Canterbury, the Butcher’s Arms in Herne and the Black Dog in Whitstable.
Faversham has its hop festival at the end of August too. Great event with live bands and tonnes of food and drink.
Loads of trails and woodland, with the emphasis on pretty mellow riding if you are bringing a bike.
