Just found a good sized ring of Fairy Ring mushrooms in the field.

What's the best way of preparing them? Just fried or better boiled/sauteed and used in a pasta etc?

What about preserving, drying?

i tend to dry them powder them then use the powder to make brews ...oh sorry wrong mushroom ๐Ÿ˜‰
drying is always best to preserve tbh
You can slice and then fry them a little bit and then freeze them as well if you wish

One of about a dozen pumpkins, (this one's for Mrs S to make soup with, the rest are for pumpkin rum and scary lanterns ๐Ÿ™‚ ), one of three sqauash, and a forgotten courgette - might make marrow rum with that.

Personally as I have a dehydrator I always mean to dry them but I have a problems as soon as I get home I fry them in butter and eat them?? But they are one of the better drying mushrooms. Found a troop of lawers wigs (Shaggy ink cap)last week supposed to be one of the top mushrooms. Nothing compared to fairy ring (minus the stalk)

Ive been gorging on parasols for breakfast the last few weeks. Might go out to my special spot on the common to look for some more.

I need to identify some tree fungi too as they're not being picked by anybody but there's loads of them.

Ive found a neat way of coring marrows:

you need 1x assistant, 1x 30mm auger bit, 1x drill:

unfortunately just caught the side of the thing near the bottom so to make it water proof had to duct-tape it ๐Ÿ˜ณ

filled with sugar and a capful of rum to fire it off, top back on with some cocktail sticks, then hung in the shed for a bit till ready to drain.
