MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
I’ve just sold my iMac as I want something more portable I can move around the house and take on trips etc.
I’m ONLY interested in a MacBook so please no other suggestions as I like my Apple products.
The use will be mainly for - web research and assignment writing, I start a new course in October (assignments have to be written into their web based system) I also update my Wix website, do emails and use Office 365 (I had it on my iMac).
I also want to plan riding routes and download to my Garmin.
I’ve got an iPad Pro which I love but also want / need a laptop too for extra versatility.
Computer guys is the Air or Pro more suited to my needs?
Thanks in advance.
The Air every day of the week.
Air (I’m currently using a Pro, and my old Air was a much better physical design for regular use and typing).
Thanks- I’m thinking the Air myself.
Based on your post you won't need the Pro's performance.
The Air is much lighter - and costs less.
Thanks all.
Any idea on the amount of student discount you can get on a MacBook please? (If any at all?)
I’ve looked but - nothing concrete seems to be coming up?
Did you get a good price for your iMac as Apple have a trade-in scheme but a little late for that.
Quickest way to find out about student discount is to call one of the stores.
John Lewis are doing 0% credit on Airs.
See my thread here

10% student discount and free AirPods (don’t know if still doing this)
Thanks guys.
Apple offered £200 trade in, I sold it for £600.
https://www.theedustore.co.uk/ were much cheaper than the Apple student discount when I bought a MacBook a couple of weeks ago. You just need a .ac.uk or .sch.uk email.
those edustore prices are really quite good! I bought my MBP with the Apple student discount in 2015, and it was around 15% off. I've heard Apple reduced the discount since then, and most of those edustore discounts appear to be around 15 - 20%.
