Just got one of these, did a factory reset and it seems stuck at the spinning gears thing. How long is that supposed to take.

How long has it been spinning? Couple of minute if just did the reset you can do from within the phones settings, 5 or so minutes if doing a proper reset using Nokia's NSU software.
If you haven't used the Nokia software google it and use it. It can be used for such instances iirc.
