I've not long got up after Nightshift. About to take dog for a walk to the beach. I think we're going out for food with a couple of friends later and then back to work.
Decent road bike ride this morning, just under 80km locally. Nearly 1000m climbing which wasn't bad, as yesterday I did 29km running in the mountains... BBQ after, then Paris Roubaix, and unfortunately now I seem to have a list of things to sort out at home 🙁
Kids and I have done some fence repair, spur posts and a tip run. Only halfway through though now.
Refereed 3 rugby matches. Feeling very sleepy.
After setting yesterday aside to sort out the flat after heaps of time away it was cutgate today, running really well too
Relaxing after a stupid but fairly painful off yesterday.
went for a walk, sadly that's it
Up early to feed sheep and lambs, then down to Wentwood for a 3 hour MTB orienteering event. Unbelievably dry and fast running trails in an area I haven't ridden before really. Had a great time and cleared the course to finish a respectable 3rd. Back home to feed the sheep and lambs. Now had my tea and will have to go out to feed the sheep and lambs in a minute. I see a pattern emerging!
Went for a walk round @54.157339,-1.1156332,13.67z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xdd92f5be552218f!8m2!3d54.1659719!4d-1.1048281">Yearsley Woods. Prime gravel bike trails if anyone is local, although you may end up doing laps.

64km local ride checking out the trails for the arrival of the molgrips family 🙂

The pair of zero-gravity garden chairs my g/f bought me for my birthday last year are showing their rather shoddy finishing by going rusty wherever there’s a weld, or a fitting, so I was out with a brush and can of rust treatment paint. Not the best paint job I’ve ever done, but I really couldn’t be arsed to undo the elastic cords and spray it. It’ll do for a while.
Then it was turning over the compost bin with my custom fork, go on a dandelion hunt and kill spree, put out the food for the hedgehogs, plant out some Fritillaries I bought earlier this week, then go pick up my g/f from work.
It was bloody cold out in the garden, despite being south-facing and fairly sheltered, and me wearing about five layers.
Still, quite satisfying just pottering about doing stuff.
Rode at FOD with the biggest group of mates we’ve put together in, hit a tree but just a small scrape and bruise, then sat in the pub listening to my mate telling tales of his shenanigans in Thailand last month.
I rode my first organised bike event in years. Me and Mrs Llama did a sportive in the New Forest. She got a ‘gold’ time despite starting cycling less than a year ago and riding further than she had ever gone before. Well proud. It was cold and windy.
Took the Mrs, kids & dog on a tour of the Peak District - no bikes today.
Went to Carsington to watch the birds & give the dog a walk.
Then up to Castleton & Hope for a bit of a walk - mooched in one of the caves at Winnats Pass.
Then over to Glossop and down Snake Pass to Ladybower and Derwent to give the dog a bit more of a walk and had a bacon & sausage sarnie before heading back home.
@phil5556 I’m not great, but your asking touched me. Thank you
Hope things improve for you, look after yourself.
Ended up having something pathetic like ~10mins cycling around the block at 1800, while attempting to positively tweak gear shifts on the commuter ready for this morning, the ongoing lurgy with almost a week of bad night's sleep left me in no state to head out after catching up on some fish tank water changing.
Looking forward to the second half of this week, Met Office is predicting 18C+ from Thursday in Southampton. \o/
