Not a large amount of money, dont know whether they were fishing a little first but we spotted it. Randomly though they've set up 3 direct debits which I find concerning for this particular account as we rarely use it, plus they must have a fair few details to have set up the dd's. Its just an account that our wages go in to that we then distribute here and there. Seems a very odd thing to do?
I had a 'Next Directory' debit on my account. Bank stopped it. Daft thing is, it's a card I don't use on-line - just for cash/in store, and I've never shopped with Next Directory.
Clearly dodgy. Not a problem though. I can help you very much Sir. Send I all of your money Mr Yson. I have lots of $5.4millions of gold I can release. I could keep yours money safe and deposit to get gold, then we will be rich.
Sorry for contacting you in this manner but situation is urgents. Message me back x
Our bank sends us a text when we set up a new recipient for a transfer so I hope this can't happen....
@franksinatra sounds brilliant can you let me have your address, account no. and sort code, I'll send you the money straight away 😉

So does mine, but in this case it's a direct debit and there is no text for that.
yep and although only a small amount I guess if they do it with 100s of accounts that's a fair bit of money dripping every month! So does mine, but in this case it’s a direct debit and there is no text for that.
btw this is exactly what happened to Clarkson after he boasted there was no harm in people having your bank details (and then publicly revealing them 😂)
I remember that one well, mainly as I worked for his bank at the time (Barclays) so I could check the number was legitimate! ISTR someone set up a DD for £500 pcm to a donkey sanctuary, not only did Clarkson say it had happened he kept the DD going, and yes I did check it was still running a few months later.
OP, it'll be a tester transaction. They'll let it run for a while and if it still works a few months down the line they'll know you're not checking your statements. They'll then hit your account for a large sum, usually around the beginning of the month as it's payday.
