So I`m off to London this Thursday to watch the Black keys that evening and then Orbital on the Saturday.
Baring in mind there will be quite a lot of beverages consumed can anyone recommend some activities to do in-between gigs that are relatively cheap.
Is it a case of London parks and museums or is there something that I just shouldn`t miss!
Alternatively any good MB ideas in and around the capital.
Cheers

I saw Orbital on Friday night - you're in for a treat! Best night I've been to for years...

You could always do a tour of the independent bike shops!

Surely a tour of the independent bike shops would include a second mortgage!

You don't buy stuff in "those" shops you speak of. You talk about the profile of your cap, the weight of your bike and how bad your eyesight 'really' is.

It's kind of difficult if you're pissed the whole time because there is so much to do.

It depends what you're in to?

Winter wonderland will burn a hole in your pocket but is OK if you like expensive hotdogs.

I'd not get too sloshed, hire a bike and ride round the parks and see stuff. Maybe a guided cycle tour? If you get one who is a proper localler and a good cyclist (you get some who've never seen a bike before) you will see stuff in London that will blow your mind, as well as all the cool spots the normal tourists don't see and you can bomb about on a bike which is fun in london. Wear a helmet.

Im just back from a weekend in London , I had a wee bite to eat in 'Look mum no hands' and a look round the some bike shopsand the usual sites. Winter Wonderland is pretty good fun but bloody expensive though the Biergarten is great.
Oh and I saw 'Orbital' a week ago in Edinurgh and they were awesome.

My top tip for cheap fun london -

1: walk everywhere - I clocked up 16 miles on my last wander

2: the River Bus. Really quite exciting and if you're lucky you get Terry Tibbs as your ticket collector

Eat for less in china town, brick lane, Leather lane or Petticoat Lane I'd recommend Tayyabs in Whitechapel. Have a walk round Camden market, go to the National Gallery, museums and all that, there's shitloads of stuff to do..

Take a trip along the South bank and go to the Tate Modern.Have a wander around Borough Market and spend what you`d spend on a pub lunch on trying some of the food from the stalls.

I'd get on a train to the South Coast for a day two. Bit of sea air etc. London at Christmas...works parties in all the pubs, crowds of shoppers. Sounds like hell.

Boris bike everywhere.
Go to the V&A, the Natural, the Science, the Wallace, the National, the National Portrait, the Tate, Tate Modern (if you must), etc, etc, etc.

If you have a travelcard already that'll get you to north greenwich, then the cable car across the thames is only 3.20 one way (then dlr back to town). I thought it was worth it - it isn't like there are all that many major landmarks, but it is a jolly nice cable car.

With a short walk from that, you can indulge in a double bill of civil engineering joy by going to see the Thames Barrier. Then the docklands light railway is a really nice driverless train, I could ride it all day (make sure you get a seat in the front with a view). You can even take it to Woolwich and get the ferry across the river (free for foot passengers I think) and return via the foot tunnel. Wow!

On the other hand, you may be less of a sad engineering and transport nerd than me, so maybe not such a good set of tips, but the cable car is fun.

get a boris bike 1 week pass or whatver they do these days.

I was v.lucky, I found a random spare 'boris key' left in a stand right outside the station I arrive in London some point in 2009/2010 just after the scheme was launched. Must be a press key or something as I have used it ever since trouble free, probably dumped a few hundred ££ of multi hour charges on it, yet it still keeps on working. Freaking A 😀
