I was under the impression that minors were not named by the courts or media, how comes he’s been named ?
14yr old boy has clearly been let down by everyone he’s ever encountered in his life.
Watched the YouTube of him being questioned. How on earth is a 14 yr old capable of murder it’s very young to be so violent and evil.
Back to original question- why’s he been named ?

Younger children have committed awful crimes before, the killing of James Bulger is the first one to come to mind, tortured by 2 10 year olds who were named. There are others too.
It's the judges discretion, so presumably the answer is in the court report.
There will get a serious case review that will identify failings in communication between school, Police, social services and medical staff and totally fail to resolve the fact that years and years of public sector cuts have reduced all those services to shadows of what they need to be.
Politicians will make vague empty promises but deliver nothing concrete, and completely fail to make upfront investment in the early family intervention needed to reduce the number of families who need more costly interventions 5 or 10 years down the line.
Yes I'm married to a social worker, yes I'm angry and bitter.
Poisonous family dynamics. Just awful.

Logan Mwangi was let down by everyone, this 14 year old murderer is just a product of his environment and will be out and free before he's 30 years old, i'll hazard a guess there'll be an enquiry into working out how on earth this scenario was allowed to happen, and the usual public apologies for the failings from someone who probably wasn't even part of it at the time, then the same thing will happen again in a few months or years.
Even with much better funding things will happen, but for now i feel for the social workers who seem to get blamed when yet another broken person does something vile and it's the fault of the social worker rather than the perpetrators despite clearly not having the resources or tools to deal with a tenth of the shittery which goes on in many people's lives daily.
Whilst in the whole social workers are great individuals ( my niece is one ), like in any vocation in life there are some that are not up to scratch. Because of things like the funding etc they get away with it ( as in being shit at their job) as they are not monitored properly
@revs1972, you just described the public sector and it's attitude to accountability perfectly. It's missing at so many levels, mediocre is a perfectly acceptable standard for many in this area.
