My Buzzrack Scorpion is coming up 3 years old. It's brilliant. Except the lights are a bit rubbish. Considering switching them to LED. From memory when a mate did this for me on my old Atera rack, he fitted a load resistor for the indicators. Assume that's still a thing?
Also so many options, I guess if I know they are 12V and bayonet fittings, is there anything else to differentiate the myriad of brands. Finally I probably wouldn't change the reversing or number plate lights, assuming running a mixed incandescent and LED bulb set isn't an issue?
Vaguely related it's good to know there are good spare parts for this range of trailers. Especially a fence crept up and bashed one of the lights at the weekend 😉
If they are the generic square shaped lamp units then you can get replacement LED units from Screwfix or Halfords for about £15 each. I upgraded an old Thule tow-bar rack a few years ago with these and have had no problems using it on multiple vehicles since. No errors or warnings on the dash.
I'll check out screwfix- just need to check length as the indicator bulb is tight to the housing. Expect LED replacement to be smaller tho.
holy thread resurrection - Alex did you get LED replacements in the end - am thinking about mine as well!!? if yes - what/where? taI'll check out screwfix- just need to check length as the indicator bulb is tight to the housing. Expect LED replacement to be smaller tho.
Hi @Sui - I didn't. It went on the list of things to do and never made it to the top. Trailer still going great even after my hot glue repair wasn't of the highest quality and I expected water ingress into the light housing forcing me to make the change.
I may still do it tho. No idea what I searched for tho so I'll need to start again. If I find anything useful, will post here.
🤣 no worries, i'm going on the hunt which means i'll have to take the light moduels apart - wish me luck -i may break something that isnt broken!Hi @Sui - I didn't.
