Last year lots of you recommended Porto Pollensa in Majorca for our family summer holiday so we went and it was ACE. Wide sandy beach, sunny and hot, no chavs and I could cycle into the mountains and be back with the family by 10am.

Where could we go this year?

I'm not a fan of Turkey (can't stand the constant hassle) but will take a look at those suggestions just in case. Thanks.

Any more?

Playa Blanca - Lanzarote. Quietish but with plenty to do, plenty of nice hotels, good beaches, clean and safe.

Plenty of 'Island tour' type things to do as well which are worth a day out.

The history of modern Lanzarote it quite interesting and it is worth reading about to give you a sense as to why it has not turned in to another Tenerife (which was describe to me by an ex-pat living in Tenerife as 100,000 ex pat alcoholics clinging to a rock).

We're doing Keycamp in the Vendee, France. Bit of a change for us as we've done Puerto Pollensa for the last few years and the kids love it and never done camping before, though in this case it's more like glamping, but they're getting to the age where I think they might enjoy something different. I'm sure we'll be back to Puerto a Pollensa soon.

Kefalonia? Massive hill dominates the island. Only downside was the crazy italian motorists.

We got zero hassle in Kalkan last year, first time we've ever gone back to the same resort. Small oebble beach in the town, 7 mile sandy beach 15 minutes by car, grest scenary, loads if antiquities to visit, boat trips and thevtown is great to walk around in the evening, loads of restaurants and shops selling genuine fakes. We'd been a bit wary about Turkey but Kalkan was great.

Other than Yorkshire and Rawtenstall there's a few places I've never heard of there. Will check them out. Any more ideas?
