What sort of system should I be looking at to get a wireless speaker system that plays from my laptop?
Looking for 4 speakers to place around the house and run from ITunes but sub £400 would be great if its possible to get something that does not sound crap!

You can look at something that uses airplay, especially if you're using itunes.

Plenty of choice of airplay speakers these days and if you leave the PC on and use the itunes remote app you can control what plays where from your mobile/tablet.

I'm sure there are slicker options out there, but what I've evolved over the last few years is having three Apple Airport Express adapters with a variety of powered speakers plugged in to them (you can spend from £20 to lots for these). If I'm using iTunes (infrequently) I can use Apple Remote on phone/iPad to control sound. If I'm using Spotify, I can only play to one set of speakers at a time via my phone or stream to multiple speakers using an app called Porthole which works fine. So, I have one in the kitchen/dining, one in the study (where I work, so use to stream radio or play music), then another in the garage for listening to music when fettling the bikes).

The Express that I have are the older variety, and the newer ones are about £80 each, probably cheaper if you hunt around.

A slicker solution is to get the speakers with the wireless adapter built in, however I bought the Express to extend the range of the wifi and network a printer, and so being able to stream music from them was a bonus.
