We will be in touch
Hi. I’m looking at PC/Tablet options for my lab team. For PC needs, they usually have older hand-me-down workstations, from the CAD team. Nothing more intensive than office apps, some spreadsheet crunching for test results, report writing etc. I would like them to be able to view & slice 3d models though. In the lab they tend to write everything down in note books, take camera-phone pics, then upload for report writing.
In my head I have this perfect state where they take a tablet into the lab, grab photos using its built in camera, hand-write/scribble/sketch straight into the screen, dictate into it, quickly draw tables, paste in snippets etc. Then use that data to generate more formal reports where needed. I’m thinking more of an electronic journal rather than handwritten notes that are laboriously entered into the PC.
MIcrosoft One-Note looks to have that sort of functionality, especially as we use Teams & off-site colleagues can see data going in live.
What are my options for this “perfect state” though...?
The “ MS Surface” type PC’s look handy, with the detachable screen, but what about iPads or is there another product/hardware that would work as well or better ? Or does my perfect state not exist & I’ve been watching too much Tomorrow’s World ?
To answer a slightly different question, and with the caveat that the last time I played with this it was mince but that was in beta a long time ago, let me put this on your radar for evaluation:

What software do you use to do this?
We've got a Surface Pro 5, it's really very good. I use it as a more standard laptop type thing, MrsIHN uses it tablet style to annotate and mark exam papers
Surface Pro sounds exactly what you're looking for
