Seeing as the 1st cat is called Merlin, how about keeping with the Arthurian tradition and calling the new kitten 'Nimue'?

Nimue was Merlin's lover/priestess in the older versions of the tale.

Also there is Morgan/Morgana...

I should point out that Merlin (the cat) is in fact a girl, I know it's weird for me to. Liking Dave so far and the neighbours idea, loving it.

Don't let kids name your cats folks - we have pussy and socks...
Just remember you'll have to shout the name late at night out the back or teach them to come to whistle.

Morgana trapped Merlin in Excalibur (drifts of thinking of helen mirren in her youth).

One of my customers has a cat called 'Grim Reaper'
Looking at this cute little feline with a pink collar it might seem a bit unlikely... till you see the hundreds of bird* corpses that have been judged. I mean, last week I saw GR with a ****ing oystercatcher in its mouth- how did it catch that?
* dont worry folks, I'm sure they were guilty birds that deserved to die.

What about the name Bastet- named after the ancient Egyptian fertility/ cat goddess.... With the back door open and you're shouting its name, passers-by will thing your swearing like a loon,
Thats much better than 'fluffy'

I know somebody who called a cat Fellatio. Honest I didn't make that up.

My next cat will be called Elvis or Elvira. My current cat is called Ramona (got her just when Joey Ramone died) and her brother was Carlos (after Carlos Spencer my favorite All Black).

Cats should be named after somebody.

We've got 3 cats, all girls, all called Dave, after Papa Lazarous insistence on the name of his many wives.

...not that any cat, ever in the history of cat, has given a shit what it was called...

My first cat was called Zero.

We now have Mushroom and Spook.

Calling the latter in can be a bit embarrassing when our black African neighbour is out and about.

Call it myface, that way when you call them both in at night can go something along the lines of...

"Myface, Merlin. Come on Myface Merlin."
