Just about to replace a blown under cupboard strip light in the kitchen, and notice that there is some rather manky looking tape lathered around the underside of said cupboard. Its only on 2 of the 4 underlit cupboards....would it be heat resistant tape? Is there any need for such a thing? The lights themselves are 16W led strip lights, so i suspect dont put out a great deal of heat, however would some heat resistant tape be a good idea anyway, or am i wasting my money and time?

No need for heat resistant tape for the led lighting, maybe they were different lights originally.

Parcel tape used to hold the cables up out of the way, perhaps? It’s what usually happens, and the adhesive goes either very dry and powdery, or more often really sticky and covers everything with goo!
I replaced some old incandescent under-unit lights with LED ones, there was tape all over the place which had dried out but had originally been to hold up the wires, I used black and yellow vinyl hazard marking tape, and it keeps coming unstuck!
There won’t be any heat issues anyway.
