Hi all,
The battery life on my Kindle Voyage has dropped to the point where I only get four hours reading out of it per charge. I am wondering about whether to jump out of the Amazon ecosystem and give my $$$ to some other organisation which is not such a Borg type outfit.

Kobo seems the obvious alternative but are they just another corporate behemoth? - ideally I want the ease of the Kindle infrastructure including syncing between devices but for my purchases to support bricks and mortar UK bookstores as I suffer from guilt browsing in Waterstones etc. and then running off to buy the ebook from Amazon.

Have it repaired. Don't throw out a perfectly good device, with all the wastage that comes with that, just because a consumable part has failed.

£30 from these people, there must be many more. However ring them don't use their website as it's not secure.
