Looking at a week or so in Kerala over Xmas (taking 15 year old daughter so limited to school holidays)

What's the STW collective recommend for accommodation / getting around / good stuff to do?

Any and all advice welcome

Cheers

If you're not riding with Mike at MTB Kerala, you should.

Obviously it's all about the two-week long tours, but I'm sure he'd take you out for a day or two if that's all you want and the hire bikes aren't too shabby either (Nukeproof Megas)!

I should of added, not a biking trip! (I have done a trip with Mike in the Himalayas, so don't need to be sold on the merits!)

It's 'other' stuff I'm looking at

AS already mentioned go MTBing with Mike! He will do day tours or shorter ones if they fit in with his normal organized tour. We went for Crashtestmonkey's 40th birthday and had an AMAZING time! He can also organize other activities and stuff for you, so we had a night on a house boat before we went MTBing. Was top. Awesome guy too like riding with your mates.

Some pics from our biking trip with mountain bike Kerala a couple of years ago. Fantastic time ๐Ÿ™‚ (We went back for Singalilla later the same year)

Yet another big recommendation for them and Mike is indeed a top bloke - seems completely chilled and relaxed on the surface but very well organised behind the scenes. As Munge said, if you have a few days free there it's worth giving him a shout anyway as he's a great fixer.

..and the food in Kerala is bloomin' fantastic.

Spent a week in Kerala about 5 years ago so memory is a little hazy. We stayed in fort cochin. Really nice town with a strong Portuguese influence, great for a few days sightseeing and soaking up the culture. Also look out for the canal boat trips. Think we did a 2 day trip and was one of the highlights. Also went to an elephant sanctuary which was an hours or so drive from fort Cochin. The place is a little touristy by Indian standards so lots to see and do and organised day trips were advertised locally. You wont struggle to find things to do! Alcohol is frowned upon so ask for the special chai! Comes in a bright teapot and teacup....does not taste of tea ๐Ÿ™‚
