Went for a quick spin in my local trail centre earlier, and nearly ended up with a squirrel in my front wheel! It came whizzing out of the undergrowth at about 90 degrees to my front wheel - luckily I was going so fast (well, for me it felt fast!) it bounced off the spokes, accompanied by a comedic twang sound....at least bladed Mavic spokes are good for something😁

Has anyone else been squirrelled?!

I was driving home once and one bounced off the roof of the car in front of me, still clutching the piece of branch that I’m guessing had snapped off moments before.

Picked itself up and shot off into the hedge.

Ran over one at the local pump track, it ran straight under my back wheel on a hard tail. Not pretty 🙁

They love the black trails at Wind Hill. Might be because I'm always the first one there on a weekend and they've not got used to bikes at that time in the morning.

Much worse was a deer that ran in front of me there the other day.

Didn’t a famous person get hurt this way? Politician or Sports person?

Had to take avoiding action numerous times when a squirrel shoots out from the undergrowth 2ft in front!!

Still, crows are the worst ones - it's only bikes that kills them though. I think it might have something to do with them only being able to shout 'Cah!'...

It was Clement Attlee . He got tangled in some poor rider's spokes after jumping out of the bushes on the Glentress Red.

Red squirrels at glentress have nearly been smooshed a few times i reckon its my slow meandering pace that throws their keenly honed timing.

I thought that was Neville Chamberlain, Attlee got hit on a skate board park in St Albans IIRC.

Oh, that photo....yikes! One positive (er, for the rider) is that I guess it was less serious than getting something like an Attlee, Chamberlain or deer stuck in there.

A mexy rabbit ran out and I went over it with the rear wheel, it was not looking happy about it so I dispatched it with a rock, unfortunately it turned out its head was covered in large pus filled boils and pus sprayed all over the place, was definitely one of the grimmest things I've done. That's just put me off my spicy parsnip soup.
