We will be in touch
Spent 20 mins looking for data, got nothing except a bounty at a high security site.
Looks like someone is working against NKL, IPP and Li Chotep have both made significant gains in Akuntsu and Kuwembaa over the last 2 or 3 days. Seems a bit more than coincidence to me, so I'll run some missions between the Akuntsu and Kuwembaa and see what happens.
Matt

STW assemble, scramble all ships!
Ah, I noticed the stats seemed to be going against us.
Had an interesting time in our little war, 3 rebuys of my Krait, but 2 NKL wins. I really seem to struggle with multiple enemies.
Then went off to spend an age ferrying tea around to unlock Broo...now I’m starting to see what the Anaconda can really do.
So back to the CZ or is there another plan now?
I won’t be scrambling any time soon.
I’m still 1600LY away in the Sanguineous Rim at my last Crystalline Shard site.
I'm still trying to get my dirty drives but I'll be over ASAP.
I thought the CZ was trickier, yesterday. There seemed to be a tendency for the enemy to gang up on you. At one point I was fighting with a dropship, whilst tanking two vipers. I would have been dead in the Vulture, but the Funship has plenty of hull.
Matt
Need to find out what platform they're on, not much good we can all do except interdict on one side and work on the other. FWIW I haven't seen any CMDR's about.
got some requisition missions for NKL in akuntsu, 1 progenator, 2 natural fabric and 1 leather mission and picked up the resources for 1 progenator, 1 natural fabric and 2 leather missions, whoops! then RL got in the way so will have to rectify that and hand in those wing missions tonight if I get chance.
I havent seen anyone other commanders either (pc)
Oh and I won't be on tonight, I have a whisky tasting so I'd just be a liability.
I haven't seen anyone around either (not a surprise on PS4). It looks like someone is running missions back and forth between Akuntsu and Kuwembaa, which could be for Fed and Empire rank, but why not include NKL for some of the Fed?
I guess we'll see whether it carries on!
I only drink and mine, with a half decent shield a few knocks on the roids doesn't matter! Plus anyone can land on a fleet carrier!
Matt
Why do NPCs interdict Fer-de-Lances? I'm highly unlikely to have any cargo, and I'm highly likely to be going to kill you.
I did get interdicted by someone, a FAS I think, and they just ran away and waked out without even firing a shot 🙂
NPCs aren't as logical as the rest of us. Good job, otherwise with their infinite chaff, almost limitless shield cell banks and no cooldown FSDs they would be proper pains!
I'm annoyed about the BGS, I was planning to go goid hunting this weekend and help out Down 2 Earth Astronomy in the battle for Leesti.
Matt
That's why their children are always going hungry.
Well I’ve spent a good few hours today doing the dirty work of NKL out of Wylie Dock. I’ve done some things*, I’ve seen some things. Things I don’t really want to talk about. Bit hopefully NKL will be sitting in a slightly better position tonight.
17 civilian things, to be precise. That kept bloody running away... 😡
Plus numerous delivery, courier and pirate assassinations that I don’t feel quite so bad about; at least they fight back 😏
Yeah, not a fan of seal clubbing myself. I have gone one step further and been, ahem, 'taking out' IPP trade ships, in between running missions for NKL.
Matt
You amoral bastards. I might have to start working against you.
I have it on good authority that they were Imperials looking for a new source of slaves!
Matt
Yeah, not a fan of seal clubbing myself.
more like antelope clubbing, as V8ninety points out, these gits frequently run away
Ive been taking the slightly higher moral ground, trade and shooting pirates.
Stacked a few too many pirate missions, had five ships tearing lumps out of the vulture. Good job it's fast enough to run away, when needed. Back to the carrier for a new canopy, get Alyana out of bed and into the Funship!
Matt
Woo! Kharma at work!
Took a load of easy 1.2m missions and stacked them into 2 stops however 3/4 were influence ++++ so was nice. Rewarded with a Trit run for 21m after the influence boost and enough room in the hold to make 1.2m profit on the trade.
@squirrelking are you picking these up at Wylie or at one of the other stations?
I find I get the mining missions in Kuwembaa at Francisco de Eliza, which is unfortunately 21000Ls away. Still worth it for 6M for 36t of osmium, which I have stored on the carrier!
Matt
Yeah picked them up in Wylie, guess I just got lucky.
I just got five deliver in the name of democracy which I have loaded into the space cow, hopefully a trit mission when I get back!
Matt
Hopefully yesterday will have put a dent into IPP's lead.
Moon's Spawn will be jumping out for an hour or so tonight to sell some Painite. I will try to post an exact time later.
Tomorrow, we will head out to the crystal shards for the day, (out Monday morning, back tuesday morning). Anyone who wants to top up their raw mats, should come along, the list of available mats is below.
HIP 36601 - C 4 A - Selenium - (Not crystal shards)
HIP 36601 - C 1 a - Polonium
HIP 36601 - C 1 d - Ruthenium
HIP 36601 - C 3 b - Tellurium
HIP 36601 - C 5 a - Technetium
Matt
Make sure to take a DSS and pick a site on the daylight side of the moon.
Take two SRVs if you can. You will get stuck.
I’ve maxed out on everything except Selenium. It’s easier just to trade for that. I’m currently in Outotz something or other getting Yttrum and Antimony
I'm working the next 3 days so won't be on this trip.
I think the high pay missions are a time of day thing, 2 missions for 63 and 70 insulating membrane for about 6.5m each. Got back and picked up a 13m trit and 5m palladium. That was logging on about 11am, same as yesterday.
I had a 33M for 90t of trit yesterday evening, fantastic timing as I had just been out collecting tritium for the trip to the shards!
Matt
I'm down to about 12,500 ly from the edge of the bubble. Maybe about 250-300 jumps. Then I'm going to sell the last 18 months worth of exploration data and buy me something with lots of guns and learn to shoot!
Buhwah hahahahahahaha!
I'm at my folks until tomorrow evening, just been out for a hilly ride with my mum on her while and got absolutely thrashed.
Found this in my Google feed tho, sounds interesting, bit more info than the dev diary:
Well **** that. Whoever wants Akuntsu that badly can have it. I ran missions pretty much all a day, I handed in bounties and carto, donated, the whole 9 yards.
Net result NKL down 1.1%
It would have been too much work if that had been a small gain, but a loss! I don't need a second job.
Matt
Hmm, is there a way to see who is influencing individual systems?
Either way, there's going to be a war or election when they catch up. Still plenty of room for tactics.
In other news I am now CMDR Squirrelking. after they fixed the wonky capitalisation.
Looking at the stats IPP have been making significant gains for a few weeks, I don't think the others are catching up so much as we're dropping back.
https://inara.cz/galaxy-starsystem/3133/
I ran a dozen NKL missions yesterday, too. (I only live 2 jumps away!)
All that would be OK if we hadn't really done much yesterday. IPP lost nearly 2.5 points which is to be expected, but Li Chotep for Equality gained nearly four while we lost ground.
Granted Li Chotep should gain quicker, since they are starting from a lower base, but how did we lose ground? There was at least three cmdrs working for NKL in a system that is lucky to see 5 ships a day.
Matt
That’s really frustrating. I chose Inf+++++ over some pretty fancy pants materials a few times, too 😡
We need to kill the ‘boom’ state in Akuntsu.
Can we go to war? Can I shoot stuff?
We can force certain states into action but since AVD is the major power we have no black market so no way of flooding the system with illicit battle weapons and narcotics.
What about working from other systems? Maybe pick up some selective "murder these bastids" missions?
I'm pretty annoyed about the millions I have lost for inf+ as well but not about to give up. We just have to fight dirtier.
EDIT : There is a solution but Molgrips isn't going to like it.
https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/4qmdi0/bgs_how_to_reducecancel_boom_state/
Yarr!
I don't understand how, with us all running missions on all 3 platforms, we've not seen anybody doing all this work against us. Unless I suppose they're not playing in open...but can you/should you, work the BGS without being accountable at all?
If it needs us to pirate or murder then...my morals can be flexible.
Anyway, I'm tucked up for the night on Moon's Spawn. If you choose not to go and do something else Matt, it's no problem.
@matt_bl well, that's a tad annoying. It feels like being ganked. There must be some way to see who's visiting and influencing the system. I'm not back online until Tuesday evening but I'll do what I can to regain some % points. If we can find out who's influencing it maybe we can find them in Open and "persuade" them to Golf Tango Foxtrot? And top job with the Moon's Spawn venga bus trip, I can't join you this time but I applaud your community mindedness and would be up for hitching for whatever adventures in the future.
@squirrelking how did you get your CMDR name tweaked? Did that need a ticket to FDev? When I set myself up the capitalisation wasn't clear so ended up with eISLER instead of Eisler (named after an author of a sci-fi compendium that grabbed my attention as a 10 year old). I've been meaning to change the typo.
My next big task will be a 5000LY trip to get some exploration done, thereby unlocking some engineers. Beagleboy is probably having a chuckle at that statement. I see 5000LY as a big deal so I'm gobsmacked at 18 months in the black.
So, besides running round causing havoc it would appear that importing lots of bio waste to Wylie could trigger an outbreak and lots of weapons would trigger civil unrest (in conjunction with aforementioned havoc). The boom state will only last for 28 days so probably doesn't have long to run.
4 points could easily come down to courier missions in (I may be guilty here) but that graph on Inara shows a large increase for IPP. LHE aren't anywhere near us so I'm not particularly worried. I am concerned though that we may not be doing this right and by working out of Wylie we may be the ones boosting IPP unwittingly.
. I am concerned though that we may not be doing this right and by working out of Wylie we may be the ones boosting IPP unwittingly.
There may be something in that. I know I’ve cashed in bounties for NKL at Wylie and that may well not help NKL but rather IPP as the controlling faction. Seems harsh but it could be the case. Same with carto data.
Yeah, now I think about it when I dumped my spare trit I got up to allied status with them. Never really put much thought into it before now. Arse.
Carto is definitely the controlling faction of the station. If you're dropping it in Akuntsu, use Tennyson.
I remember reading somewhere that the influence from bounties for a superpower aligned faction, are spread across all of the factions aligned to that superpower. I can't find it again and it may have been changed at some point.
Matt
Well either way the IPP boom should be over since it's been going since 02/08. There's no way someone isn't working for them, they were at 38% the day we won the election and are at 52% now. They were at 73% a couple of months ago as well.
been doing quite a few pirate killing missions for NKL from gagnan kuwembaa and wylie akuntsu* and a few trade, dont think Ive been too fussy about where I handed the bounties in tho, whoops. (prob 15M worth over a few days)
Do we need to concentrate our work out of NKL owned bases?
Damn, didnt log in yesterday, just logged in and got 3 failed mission messages, NKL gonna be pissed at me!
*the pirates have actually been in akuntsu, coribes, gamahine, Li chotep and HIP something
I do wonder if we have created the problem ourselves! I know I have stacked a lot of NKL missions to kill pirates in Li Chotep. I got INF when I cashed in the mission, but the bounties were for Li Chotep Equality. Reading round it seems possible that these bounties could outweigh our +ve influence from the missions.
Let's try not doing bounty missions where the bounty issuer will be a faction we are fighting against. So no bounties in Akuntsu or Li Chotep. Coribes, Gamahine, HIP should be OK as they don't have a faction in Akuntsu.
Moon's Spawn will be in HIP 36601 in 20 minutes, just completing the final jump. See you there later.
Matt
I got INF when I cashed in the mission, but the bounties were for Li Chotep Equality.
Aye that'll do it. Along with cashing them in Wylie.
I'm still up for moving loads of NKL biowaste to Wylie just for shits and giggles (literally in this case).
what if we cash in the bounties at a international factor in a farway system?
(he says midway thru a li chotep pirate mission)
or just not cash in the bounties? (the mission pay is good enough as it is, works out at ~480k per ship, even if its a lowly winder/eagle)
have also done half a dozen trade missions, some with lots of INF
on my travels for insulating membrane I found a col sector system with 3 suns, no planets and a whole bunch of carriers, wonder why they were there, no stations or planets so.....???
Were they next door to a permit locked system?
Oh, and what time are you heading back Matt, don't want to get stranded with a low jump range ship 🙂
@D0NK the information that I have been able to find suggests that there is no influence effect for the faction if you cash in at a factor, but there is a reputational benefit to you.
Perhaps that's the way to go, complete the mission, collect the rewards, then cash in the bounties somewhere else.
Saharveti is your closest spaceport (medium pad though). Large would be Odinja
Matt
Or even just cash them in a system where LCE have a presence but NKL don't or are top dogs.
I think I dropped into that system doing that run but never saw any carriers. Wasn't there for long mind, just scooping and jumping.
Alkuylkano fits the bill, handy material trader as well.
I think the bounty issue is looking to be the likely reason. LCE picked up another couple of points, NKL managed half a point and IPP lost another three.
IPP 45.6
NKL 26.4
LCE 18.8
I might consider putting some of my toys back in the pram.
Matt
industry needs 27 units of insulating membrane
mission rewards:
2,400,000 credits and 30 insulating membranes.
RNGesus be praised!
LMAO, no wonder we're doing so badly, who the hell is running this mob?
I did laugh when I was congratulated for my beer run last night and told it will keep production on track.
Oh, just checked out my email, turns out the 300th newsletter has an AspX paint job redemption code. About time mine got some paint.
I might repaint mine when I get to explorer elite, just 8% to go. Until then it'll wear it's 0% paint with pride.
@crewlie what time do you want? I am at work tomorrow, so early evening?
It could be a long trip without 50Ly jump range.
Matt
Okay IPP is tanking now, dropped from 52.6% to 45.6% in two days.
LCE though have gained 12.5% to 18.8%.
NKL have small gains from 25.2% to 26.4%. Also entered a Civil Liberty state.
@squirrelking that fits with the bounty theory. I have never seen a mission offered in Akuntsu to kill Pirates which would return bounties for IPP.
I am going to try an experiment and drop some bounties hunted in Kuwembaa into TY-W B16-6 and see what the effect is. That should be the same process as dropping LCE bounties into Akuntsu.
If it works we would be able to do the same thing, hunting bounties in Kuwembaa and dropping them in Akuntsu. Shame Kuwembaa is such a terrible place for bounty hunting.
Matt
@matt_bl I tried plotting a route home out of interest...nope, nothing. I can only reach two other systems without having to synthesise stuff, I could be out here for years!
This evenings absolutely fine. Picked up 100 mats or so on each planet yesterday, so I'll try and go back and top up the rest today if I get some time.
I'm away for a few days after this evening so might be using board and lodging on your carrier for a while...if I could only find a way to get out of my pilot's chair, I'm sure you must have some decent food on there somewhere 🙂
OK I wont hand in any bounties anywhere til you get a handle on whats happening.
If dropping them off at another system does cause issues then I guess we're gonna have to stick to trade missions for NKL and avoid the "kill pirates in another system" for a while?
Presumably the "wetwork" jobs with no bounties won't have this effect and as it's illegal it will also undermine the controlling faction in whatever system they're in so aslong as we avoid NKL systems that's doubly effective? (but as Ive mentioned previously wetwork missions generally suck imo)
Aliyana's 'off duty' at the moment, so I'm expecting home made chilli and a cold brew when I get back in from harvesting raw mats. If it was my turn to cook you'd be getting pot noodle!
V8ninety and I reckoned it was about 30 mins per site, quicker than expected.
Matt
Picked up 100 mats or so on each planet yesterday
There's a bug that sometimes only allows your SRV to pick up 100 materials. If you board the ship and then deploy the SRV again it then allows you to get the full 150 allowance of materials.
This, combined with the SRV's poor targetting capabilities and infinite capacity to get caught on pointy bits of the landscape, make it a frustrating experience.
I found the quickest method was to visually identify nearby shards which would drop materials, park about 30 m away and fire the thrusters which would raise the srv to the level of the materials and allow it to be targetted. Otherwise, it was constantly targetting stuff 200m away.
Managed a 251 LY Neutron jump on the way back to Akuntsu last night. Took me three attempts to supercharge the FSD though.
@Crewlie Where are you? I've been out exploring for 18 months and just last night re-entered the Orion Spur sector of the galaxy. Getting a bit sweaty thinking about trying to park at a station! I've got about another 200 jumps before I hit the edge of the bubble and have to try and remember how to land on a pad, or help-ma-boab, fit myself through the letterbox.
@D0NK bounty hunting seems to be the most crosslinked part of BGS. Another question that occurs is does the controlling faction also see a benefit, when 'any' bounties are cashed on their station?
I think in general, anything which doesn't result in a bounty is safe (I hate the wetwork jobs too). If the bounties are cashed at an intersteller factor then a bounty hunting mission should be fine as well.
[Edit] Not yet been brave enough for a neutron jump, but it's on my list. That is the benefit of taking the carrier, unlimited SRVs.
Matt
@Beagleboy Just 1500ly away from the bubble at the moment, mats harvesting. Went on a longish trip (nothing like yours though) a few months back. Hitched a lift on a carrier that I came across at the Seagull Nebula, I think, across the Perseus Fade to the Galaxy edge, then made own my way back, via Thors Helmet. I managed to drop most of the data off along the way so it wasn't quite the terrifying prospect of return that you're facing.
Edit] Not yet been brave enough for a neutron jump, but it’s on my list.
make sure you have a heatsink fitted and a hotkey for your learner jumps. Also bear in mind what data/bounties mission stuff you may lose. I did a few tests super cautiously, certainly failed a few and dropped into the edge of the star, maybe a rebuy or 2 not sure, but Ive been pretty blasé about using them for bubble hopping since and dont remember any further rebuys, certainly nothing traumatic.
Havent successfully scooped a white dwarf yet tho, if my "boost route" goes through one I just jump to a nearby system and remap.
I saw a white dwarf, once. Not a fan. Never tried boost jumping either.
Can we arrange an escort for BeagleBoy’s triumphal return? Seems quite an impressive achievement that should be marked by several ships alongside firing off chaff and such 🎊🎉🎊🎉 Who’s on the same platform?
Also, if you sell the data in Gagnan Port, Kuwembaa, you’ll immediately become allies with NKL, AND help the cause there. 👍🏼
On the subject of helping NKL; I’ve been doing some research. I have done a little bit of ‘spinning the wheel’ for The Dark Wheel before aligning more closely with NKL. I am on their Discord server and receive the daily standing orders, which have been very effective in producing the results they are looking for. Below is an example of their excellent daily orders, and the principles will apply to our situation, too;
.
**Orders 31 Aug - 1 Sep 3306**
<@&724509189258346531>War in LTT 5455 is 3 days won. Today should finish it off and we then begin our climb to the top.
CIA in LFT 926 is in another election. Run some more missions there to win it for them. We can afford to drop TDW influence a bit to give them a safety buffer so this doesnt keep happening.
Please do not do any of the following as they help the enemy:
Do NOT work for other factions in our systems, unless requested in the orders.
Do NOT hand in bounties for any faction other than The Dark Wheel in our systems.
Do NOT hand in trade goods or cartography data to stations that we do not own.Tasks for today:
__**Bounty Hunting & Combat:**__
- Bounty Hunting in LFT 926, Anyanwu or HR 4979. Hand in to help the war in LTT 5455
- Conflict zones in LTT 5455. There is another war here, be sure to select the correct one! Last day!__**Commodity Trading**__
- Profitable trades into TDW owned ground stations in Shinrarta__**Missions & Passengers**__
- Missions for TDW in Shinrarta
- Combat missions for TDW in LTT 5455
- Missions for CIA in LFT 926 (Non combat ones)__**Exploration Data:**__
- Hand in TDW ground stations in ShinrartaPlease continue to use EDMC or similar tools to keep local data up to date.
Keep Spinning The Wheel, Hamsters!
With thanks to Cmdr Cryptography who write this stuff. Good work.
We can apply the principles of the above orders and achieve NKL objectives.
So;
Run NKL missions out of Wylie and other ports in Akuntsu.
Don’t hand bounties in anywhere in Akuntsu as it helps the enemy. If you need the money, utilise an Interstellar Factor. Also, no profitable trades anywhere in Akuntsu please; trades and Carto can go to Kuwembaa.
Also, no profitable trades anywhere in Akuntsu please; trades and Carto can go to Kuwembaa.
I presume trade missions for NKL in akuntsu dont count as profitable trade?
Addendum; we own a couple of planetary ports in Akuntsu; they would be excellent places to dump carto data and profitable trades. Still no bounties though, as they help the faction controlling the system (upholding law and order etc).
I presume trade missions for NKL in akuntsu dont count as profitable trade?
I think it’s the destination system faction that gets assisted in that situation.
Neutron star jumps are a piece of cake. White dwarf not so much, as the drop-out radius is huge and you don't want to be dumped out of cruise in the jets.
@V8ninety that's great information, far more detail than I get for Terra Ex Astro Corp. I guess they have been lucky in picking up lots of new cmdrs and need to spell it out. The key points for me are :
Do NOT hand in bounties for any faction other than The Dark Wheel in our systems.
Do NOT hand in trade goods or cartography data to stations that we do not own.
I definitely did the first at points over the weekend.
In Akuntsu we can trade into tennyson and drop carto there. No profitable trade into the commodity market at Wylie Dock. Source and return missions are OK.
Matt
So there was no opposing faction after all? Just our own bungling incompetence?

So there was no opposing faction after all? Just our own bungling incompetence?
I think we have to consider that as a possibility. The system being in a boom state may well have exaggerated the effect in favour of IPP, too.
