he came across as a total knob on that programme last night
I liked the programme, it kinda showed that he's prepared to do anything inc. dying to achive his goals.
The footage of flying down the matterhorn (?) was superb
Yes, the base jumping was clearly a form of therapy and he seemed like a very messed up person, not least when he explained how he enjoyed causing his parents anxiety and fear. But what he does is spectacular. Was wondering who else would be in the series - perhaps a freestyle MXer, freediver, a climber?
Kind of person thats great to watch on youtube etc.. but you wouldn't want to be anywhere near him in real life. What happened to that guy who hit the bridge? did he literally just explode into bits?
Seemed fairly reasonable if a little self centred. But all the footage from that programme has been on youtube for 18 months plus?!?
Guy that hit the bridge, yes - splattered.
I would not like to have a conversation with him but really admire what he does. The images were stunning. Next week is the arctic naked marathon runner! Be good to see free climbing.

Pedant alert.
Be good to see free soloing. Free climbing is climbing free of artificial aids to help upwards progress, but there's normally a rope held by someone else to prevent downward progress ๐
Free soloing = mental.
Yes, I'd like to see a free soloist, although as it's TV I'm guessing there would have to be some sort of personal narrative arc rather than just some climbing. What was interesting about Corliss is that he didn't seem to seek publicity, he wasn't sponsored by Red Bull for example, but was trying to deal with his own demons through the flying. Or maybe no sponsor would touch him.
Naked arctic running? That's just silly...
a friend's husband did the north pole marathon, then 6 of them stripped off and ran six times round the world naked - kinda.
Mental free soloing

Sorry for the terminology faux pas.
I'd also like to see some of the technical divers who can go to really really mental depths. I was under the impression that mr Corliss didn't require sponsorship and wasn't short of a couple of bob.
