Luckily not knocking people off bikes this time.

Disliked the chap ever since he said nasty things about cyclists, and no suprises he's now been outed as a massive bully. What is it with these Clarkson'esque TV ****s?

Maybe because they're from Yorkshire ?

Ha! Was just reading about that a few seconds ago on the BBC webby.

Indeed, seems to be a bit of a diva at best and an  unpleasant bully at worst.

That's the least surprising news story ever.

Remember seeing him in some car show set in Italy, I think, a few years back, where his obvious bellendery and entitlement consigned him to my personal shitlist immediately.

I notice there's even a thread about it:

He lives near me and rents a unit for his cars from someone near me. He is reputably a massive pr11ck and pretty much hated by everyone in village he lives in...so i am told. apparently all his neighbours hate him in a celebrity like fat boy i own the road/world type scenario...apparently

I’ve a friend who used to work for a publisher, whose portfolio included cookbooks. Whenever they had a book launch the cooks (Oliver, Wallace, Stein etc) would all come in, say thank you for the hard work, generally smile and glad-hand.

She tells me they were all nice (Greg Wallace especially) but that James Martin was an utter **** (her words, not mine).

He's not been convicted in court so you're not allowed to have a negative opinion of him (...apparently).

Afraid it's not a cookery thing or a car thing, it's a minor TV personality thing.

Had the misfortune of working with a few over the years. Those that are genuinely talented are usually lovely and motivated by what they do...then there's those that got lucky and become a 'rent a presenter'. Even the ones not doing telly and doing corporate stuff could be absolutely odious. Think it's something to do with a massive chip on the shoulder and a minor bit of attention.

You can have an opinion but you can't say he was guilty.  I am not sure you can end up in court for the offence of odious prick though can you.

I'm thinking it should be added as the first clause in every piece of legislation.

Oh good,  I'm not alone in my thoughts about him then!

He's now said he has cancer,  which I don't wish on anybody but I'm suspicious the timing of the announcement is largely about quelling the bad press about him currently.

I remember the original James Martin thread and thought exactly the same as @neilnevill with regard to the timing of his announcement.

Good to know that my radar for a dislikable prick is working and matched by others!
