First time ever a winner, I think I've got about £350 in it and won £100. It's only taken 45 years

9th month of nothing. It's like my holding doesn't exist.

What's the advantage of Premium Bonds over chucking the cash at "find of your choice" tracker fund?

I've got ~£10k sitting doing nothing. Debating having a punt on PB or sticking it in a fund.

Premium bonds are cash savings not investments so a better comparison is to a cash savings account.  Advantages are that they “interest” (winnings really) are tax free so if you pay tax on your savings interest then this is a way to avoid it.  It is also guaranteed by the government so you WILL be able to get your money.  Disadvantages are that you need a fair bit of money invested to make the probabilities work for you.

I may be mixing you up with someone else - but premium bonds are only available to UK residents.

PBs probably only really make financial sense after you've maxed out any ISA allowance etc, but the marketing temptation for premium bonds which attracts those who are not necessarily stressing about tax on interest is the small possibility of a big win.  Funds can go down in value.

A whopping £25 😲😭. I'll mull over my options but I think I'll shift back to a high interest account for the next few months then renter the premium bonds draw in December.

£100. Rubbish.

Better than zip, zilch, absolutely nothing...

Any spare cash is going elsewhere now & even with interest being taxed is performing better.

Nice one the zippykonas. We're a couple of hundred quid behind you this month - £125 for me & £150 for her. Better than June.

Nothing again. But it's a considerably smaller pot than most on here appear to have

I won £4.10 on the EuroMillions the other day (actually £1.60 profit once you take into account the cost of the ticket).

I did find my Premium Bonds and checked it, not won anything in years but it's a fairly minimal amount of Bonds anyway so not a surprise. Looking at the list of winners, a lot of them are holding £50,000 plus in PB.

Ours are performing worse and worse 😔is there any evidence that pooling our bonds into one bigger pot will increase our chances of winning?

Again, nothing for me, but only £10k holding. I think I might take it all out and then buy in again. Not a sausage since last October.

My brother's family (4x max holding) won nothing for months, then contacted NSandI with concerns they were "missing" from the draw. Were reassured that it was impossible to be missed out, but then started consistently winning. Coincidence?

Makes you think!

Well, quite a good return this month after the missus questioning why I have money in PBs. If this was every month I'd be very happy. So there!
