REALISED HOW BLOODY EXPENSIVE IT IS THESE DAYS.

derek_starship on being handed the bill last night.

"HOW MUCH??!! I COULD HAVE BOUGHT A CAR FOR THAT!"

E.g. £5 for a bottle of Budvar.

In future, I'll be staying in and buying some good quality food and wine from the supermarket.

Happy birthday for today!

Restaurant certainly have become more and more expensive over the years.

We mainly go to Pizza Express nowadays and use our Tesco clubcard vouchers. Can't use them for drinks, but they do cover the cost of the food.

It keeps the costs down mate 🙂

Plus they are very child-friendly in there.

Can't beat the Pizze Express / Tesco voucher combo.

3 courses + bottle of red on Friday and it cost me £22.

It's a shame that Tesco recently reduced the conversion of their clubcard vouchers to Pizza Express vouchers from 4 times to 3 times, but when they are doing double-points in store it is still equivalent to a 6% cashback which is great 🙂

Can also recommend Cafe Rouge for the Tesco voucher thing.

just looked at the menu of panama hattys, it's a glorified pub menu.
there must be some decent restaurants in manchester? or is that what constitutes 'posh food' in the north?

Ah, cheers Derek.
Always on the lookout for new places.

Have you tried 'La Roma' at the Lord Nelson at Ringley?
Been a few times, nice food and not too pricey.

Cycled past the old 'Three Arrows' pub in Pilsworth today, now a Greek restaurant called Santorini.
Doing a great deal on Sunday lunches, will have to give that a try as well.
Know anyone that's been?

there must be some decent restaurants in manchester?

Ooooh yes, loads thanks. 🙂

or is that what constitutes 'posh food' in the north?

Is that what constitutes humour in the south? 😀
