Just got the yellow light of death in the middle of playing black ops. Anybody had it before? Got it fixed?

Switch it off for half an hour, see if it's just overheated.

Pull the hard disk and refit it.

Failing that, back to Sony.

Ask your mum or dad for a new one for Christmas.

If you don't live with your mum or dad, you are too old for that sort of thing and should take it as a sign.

As one life passes another one is born... got myself an Xbox today for the first time, I'm now a console gamer (the Wii don't count).

Call Sony - even if it cometelt out of warranty they will subsidise a new one and their customer service is very good. Mine recently went south but they talked me through a full system reset and got it back working. If it hadn't, a replacement would have been £120 - it is 4 years old so couldn't complain at that.
