Summer not over yet but thoughts are beginning to turn to ski trip for the family.

I dont fancy France/ Italy/ Austria because the Euro excludes it. When I first started I went to Romania but its a bit limited. NA for a family of four is a lot of bucks

Any other destinations that could be an option, perhaps the former Yugoslavia, heard it had some quaint small resorts.

If anything it's a bit late, or WAAAAAY too early

The early booking deals have run out, Last minute deals won't be available until a couple of weeks before departure

try snowtrex.com, or action-outdoors.com - the latter deal only with france, YHA style accomodation (its the UCPA if you;re familiar with it), but the prices are all inclusive

ask on snowheads.com for further suggestions

Having the same problem here. Looking to book for New Year, but proces seem to have gone up 50-100% this year.

My take on it is that the marketeers are trying to sell as many early bookings as possible at over inflated prices as they expect to have to dramatically "discount" later on. The £ / € changes shouldn't have made the huge differances that are apparent in the brochure / online prices...

The place we went to last year (Snowology in St Foy) is over 35% more for the same week this year. But then it did feel like fantastic value last year as we'd booked before the value of sterling collapsed relative to the euro so being in a place that did all our food and included the booze meant we hardly left in the evenings so didn't spend a fortune in bars and restaurants.

Still looks decent value at the new price though, but we'll just go for one of the cheaper weeks this time round even if it means taking some more holiday.

Went to Val Thoren Feb this year. All inclusive deal was great. Eating and drinking out was a non starter!

Suspect 2010 will be a ski free year!

Last year there was virtually no 'last minute' availability at New Year. The operators has reduced the number of flights chartered, and the seats just weren't available.
