got a crap load of old kit I could do with clearing out, a mixture of P4 base units, cases, old hdd's (will be wiped to my satisfaction), numerous old cables, screws, old routers, old memory, AT PSU & the like... as I say very old stuff I hoarded over the years.
Anywhere I can just dump it all to in one go, rather than have the scavengers pick through it on freecycle?

Found a computer charity but they will only accept full computers under 5 years old, any thoughts, or just bin it?

Local tip / recycling centre? Does your place of work have a WEEE recycling policy, they could take it maybe?

Local youth clubs maybe?

Any one want a 286 or 386 laptop. I think they're only 20 years old. The 386 has a massive 30MB (yes, MB) hard drive...

I doubt work would really like to take it, as it would be pretty obvious not 'work' stuff. I like the youth club idea but don't know of one..

(binning it would be to the IT/electronic's bin of the local tip, not just our black bin..)

ohh not quite 2/386 stuff though I have a P75 CPU (& a couple of 486's) I'm keeping for posterity...

Make an attractive keyring, that. They're absolute sods to drill through, though.

I tried to donate my old stuff to a charity that took old gear to developing nations. It wasn't high enough spec. In fact their minimum spec was similar to my current desktop.

Freecycle is your best bet. It'll be snapped up in hours by someone who's all excited about getting free stuff and hasn't yet realised that he'll end up with the same problem you have now in a few months.

I had a couple of very old Toshiba laptops to get rid of
They went via freecycle very quickly to the most nerdy looking nerd I'd ever seen

No HDD on these at all just a floppy drive

Give it to your local school to use in ICT lessons to show kids what a hard disk is and what the insides look like. I have a cupboard full of old kit at school for this and am always after new (old) crap! Where are you?
