This thing, what is it in itself, in its own constitution? What is its substance and material? And what its causal nature [or form]? And what is it doing in the world? And how long does it subsist?

Now, here's the thing.

(I was about to give a bit of insight into my domestic life. Then decided against it.

I think John Humphries said this on the today programme this morning, to my slack-jawed astonishment. Truly we must be at peak "now here's the thing".)

Only on STW are threads like crossword clues.

It is a 'Thing', indeed being a thing has been a 'Thing' for a good while now.

I'm not sure 'here's the thing', is the same as being a 'Thing', but I didn't listen this morning so not aware of the context.

I liked the original version with Steve McQueen in it but it was slated by the critics at the time apparently.
