Got a good few bites last night
avon skin so soft
Goose fat.
Napalm but it's not so good for the skin.
IGMC
DEET (doesn't need to be high concentration unless you're sweating lots). Skin so soft gets mixed results though it's def worth a punt if you've got sensitive skin.
We used smidge and didn't have issues with midges after the first night
Deet works but is nasty stuff Smidge works and is farmore pleasant to use. Need to cover every mm of exposed skin however. Nothing else works properly
Napiers bug buster is great, works as well as Deet but without any nasties.

Bug Buster
avon stuff I find too oily for my sweaty bod.
Another vote for Smidge.
Also recommend Skin so Soft, a close 2nd place.
Smidge kept the Fort William midges away from me.
I'm not sure if I'm immue to midge bites or naturaly repell them, but I never seem to suffer like other people, which is odd as I'm really bad with some other insect bites. Not much help really, I don't use/do anything differently to anyone else AFAIK.
Deet. Get the stuff in Asia - contains more nasties ๐
Skin so soft great against mossies ,not so good against midges or horseflys, got a few bites last week that look like close range paintball welts even now.far worse than any mossie bite i've had in the past(remove the risk of malaria)
Another vote for Smidge here.
Normally get bitten to hell but came away with zero bites after a weekend of a midge invested Fort William.
I find Prevent works well - it uses an extract of the Chrysanthemum flower (pyrethrin) which repels and also kills insects. It can also be used as a knock down spray in tents etc.
If it's really bad I combine it with Care Plus which contains the same active ingredient as Smidge.
If it's hot/humid and I know I'll sweat a lot or showery so they will wash off then I use Ultrathon Deet cream as it is water resistant and lasts ages even when sweating.
Smidge is as effective as 50% DEET in my opinion (which is a good thing), but far far nicer to have on all the time.
Avon Skin So Soft is pretty pants, other than smelling quite nice and leaving your skin oh so soft ๐
Use strong DEET on clothes and Smidge on exposed skin.
They'll still harass you, but won't bite. I haven't had a bite in a wee while, but they still irritate the hell out of me.
Wave your arms around like a drowning man.
Another vote for Smidge.
Avon skin so soft. Smells nice aswell
