I think DNS fubarred somewhere.

cant get eBay.co.uk or .com but downforeveryone says it's just me.

on chrome I just get long Resolving Host notification before no load. Same on IE. And multiple devices.

Other sites loading but taking longer time ("Resolving Host") to load too.

Change yer DNS settings to Google's public ones:

8.8.8.8
4.4.4.4

On a mac this is done by:

system preferences > network > advanced > DNS tab > enter the above > hit ok

Problems with BT DNS here too. Switching to Google DNS as Jamie suggests fixes it for me.

I think you're right. I had an old laptop that still had OpenDNS set up, I had to reset it to auto when we changed to BT a few weeks ago.

If anyone needs anything googling, or buying from Amazon, let me know. £10 a search/item bought 😈

...oh, and well done BT for locking users out of your DNS settings. Not backfiring at all.

anyone using a chromebook can change name servers very easily (I know it's easy coz I just did it! ) by clicking on through to the wireless network connection, selecting the Network tab and choosing the Google Name servers.

Unfortunately I cant find a way of doing it on chrome running on a PC.[img] [/img]

some bt overpaid monkey has torn the pages out of the BT Internet's big telephone directory and lost them.

Fortunately there's other directories, like Thomson and Yellow Pages, that you can use while BT type up a new one.

STW is still old skool clockwork, i imagine a bunch of immigrant hamsters are powering the stw office wheel while Chipps has tethered a few parakeets to the wind turbine on the roof but i believe Andy Armstrong is working on a new site……...

Let that be a wake up call for you... How would you cope next time if or when the problems are permanent?...

Yeah BT have loads of issues today, causing me some right grief but heyho. At least I'm at home and can watch the Moto GP on TV as their online stream doesn't work.

Is it me or is it slightly ironic to post on a web forum that the internet isn't working ?

That's because it won't in Chrome, but your system networking settings. On Mac you can go to System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> DNS and set your DNS servers there.

Can't comment on Windows, but I'm sure someone knows how to do it.

According to BT and not the BBC they are investigating. Compo for a 3 hour outage, hahahaha!

Three hours for some, thee days for others, and not for the first time. If ICBA to add up over a year, it might be worth asking. It's not yet as bad as VM was, though.

The people who have had 3 days is due to cable theft so probably a different issue. I'm sure they'll probably offer something there.
