Wanting to visit an inspirational place, not a museum, somewhere in Derybshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, somewhere not far from the M1 corridor.

Please, no football clubs... not inspirational at all. I mean something like amazing victorian industrial locations or landscapes...

needing Inspiration to find inspiration...

You could do worse than the Monsal Trail near Buxton. You've got old mills and impressive railway tunnels and a lot is accessible by bike now. Beautiful countryside too. Buxton has plenty of impressive architecture too, although less of the industrial and more of the showy stuff.

Arkwright's Mill in Cromford for sure. This is where the industrial revolution started, after this the world was changed absolutely.

Can get busy so go when it's quiet. You can bike along the canal and up Cromford Incline for wee CV workout.

Is there much at Cromford ? Inside etc ? details are scant.

Chatsworth is always a winner.. the house inside is stunning..

Combine the sculpture park day with the coal mining museum a few miles away, go properly underground and have a wander round the roads and faces. Eat at YSP though, posher cafe.

if you want Victorian architecture near the M1, you could go and see Rugby School - it is in the centre of town. The Chapel is pretty wonderful in early evening light.

But there are other buildings by the same architect.

Don't know how easy it is to visit. I am a big fan of Victorian architecture.
